Hi guys, I posted over the A-Class thread since I'm about to purchase an A250 but I thought this is probably better suited here so I'll post in more detail.

I've got a 2012 B200 and have pretty much decided on purchasing an A Class as a 2nd car. It's coming up to the end of warranty and I've been having issues with the engine revving hard and the gears "catching" at times so I felt something wasn't right. I booked it in for a warranty check and they (independent) uncovered early signs of issues with the CVT / DCT which surprised me both because it had just been serviced and my dealer said their was nothing wrong with the car. The car only has 90,000km, not that old and is mostly driven on the freeway.

I recently drove driven a newer model B200 loan car with 15,000km and it had no issues whatsoever. The engine was refined, the torque was there and it certainly didn't rev and strain like ours.

The B200 is our 2nd Benz and we used to have the A170. The CVT in it also died and was replaced under warranty. I put it down to a one off and moved on. I bought the B200 with the hope of owning it long term and running it into the ground. It seems that the cars just don't last.

I'm now seriously just considering, selling B200 and buying two Golf 90 TSI's (I like other cars too but would go the Golf for the safety). I understand there are still a few issues with the Golf but with the difference in outlay even with any issues, I'm thinking that is the better option. I was happy to pay the premium on a Benz, if the cars went the distance, but I'm just not confident that they are built to last.

I understand the B Class and B Class both use the same DCT.... Has anyone had similar issues with the DCT? . Is it time to cut my losses with Benz and move on?

Now I know how they achieve these incredible fuel efficiency results - keep the driver from accessing the accel pedal :)
