A-Class (W176) [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176)

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
@Kdcorp, how are you going with those mountain grey photos? I'm so torn between the white and grey.

Hi Mr. Mercedes, haven't forgotten my promise :p but weather's not contributing to my plans.. will do as soon as weather allows though! unless you're interested in seeing how it looks when dirty and wet? :) I bet less dirty looking than a dirty white :p

Any pictures would be great. Dirty and wet would be good. Gives a good idea how my car will look 90% of the time. :D

Hi Guys, just heard back from the Dealer and my car will have the NTG 4.5 V3 update as it's a June-July Build and he will gaurantee it in writing. He also said that the update was actually called a W176 - 804 on the release notes from Mercedes and not MY2014 which confused me a bit but nevermind, at lease the Command unit the required tweeks.

Yeah, this is part of the update that has the new colours (Nordic Lights Violet for e.g) and the chrome being deleted from the glovebox handle amongst other things. This is why I'm waiting before ordering.

Thanks Kaktusdigital Lol
Ordered A 250 Sport in Mountain Grey with the COMAND, Driving Assistance and the AMG Exclusive Packages, got the Rim Locks, AMG Door Pins, Low Boot Tub, Stowage Crate and Luggage Securing Feature for free as part of the deal :) ... a nice touch I thought .... Very Happy
Good on you Shillo, I'm feeling jealous now. I should have bargained those things in when I made my last few upgrades, as I wanted most of them as well.

I've bought my car with the hope of being able to keep it for 10+ years, being my first MB I'm just hoping that the costs down the road don't become too expensive. Does anyone on this list have any rough ideas about what I should expect service wise, part wise once things start to go wrong?

I would have love to upgrade to an A250, which it seems is probably the most popular from most forums I've been reading. But I guess in the end after fully loading my A200CDI, it should have everything that I'm really after. In the end it should accelerate a little faster than my current ride which is a 2002 Toyota Avalon V6, which I just recently tried and it does about 10+s 0-100km/h. Plus my wife reminded me my original idea was to get something that was fuel efficient and 4.6l/100km is a pretty good deal.

Just so excited, waiting for it I have read nearly everything I think I can just waiting till I can caress my own one in my hands!

I too hope that this is a 10+ year keeper. In terms of service costs, the dealer said they first 3 years would be around the 400-500 each. I think he was referring to that price if you don't do too many K's a year.

May I ask whether you might qualify for the Corporate program? they offer 3 years free servicing, plus a few other things which I can't afford now that I've purchased the car... (ie valet parking at the airport)

If your company is not part of the 'list', you need:

Full time worker
60+ employees
6+ cars that are owned by staff that were more than 60K when purchased (need the rego + approx reg date)
2 managers to sign off that that info you've supplied is correct.

Hi JoyJas
Thanks mate, that time will go quickly you'll see, we'll be looking at pics of your car on here soon enough :)
At least you managed to get your order in before the dealers allocation ran out.
Not sure if it was a sales pitch but my dealer said they only had another 4 A Class left for this year. I think he said they had 85 allocated to them for 2013 so they're selling pretty quickly.

I saw the frst A-class on the road few days back. I got to say it. It grabbed my attention out of the "oridinary" looking small city cars. Some say it isn't MB elegant by their own standard, but it is what it is. Flashy & funky. I liked it very much. Rear/Front/Side all. Notice I started with rears :)

guys... all your talk about colours has made me re-think my decision....
+1 kaktus, I went from loving the mountain grey to ordering the white. But then changed order to black, but then saw the mountain grey and the white in the flesh and changed back to the mountain grey! I'm pretty sure my dealer cringed every time I walked in! End of the day they look great whatever colour IMO, although the white one I saw actually on the road the otherday did look sensational -clean, sharp, very, very cool. You couldn't help but look twice.

guys in australia they had a $1200 capped program for 50,000 km I read somewhere. if not on the corporate program with its free service it would be well worth asking about the capped service program.

interesting comments guys as to how this could be a keeper 10+ years and such. and quite rightly so this is such a nice car ! best car have owned so far. longest have owned a car was for 7 years so who knows. my a250 is a lease car so who knows will see when the lease comes to end. but yeah be something I'd like to keep. but want to have some sort of extended warranty for peace of mind once the factory warranty finishes.

Not sure on the MB, but if it was a vag vehicle, I'd be expecting at least one DSG clutch pack plus a later rebuild. For a TDI, also a DPF unit and a complete pull down of the intake system.
Be interesting to see how the A series hold up.

Hey alebonau,

How have you found the standard exhaust note?
I had planned to replace it with a Brabus system but the local distributor wont return my calls/emails, so now I am not sure.
