A-Class (W176) [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176)

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
Yeah my dealer has told me the same thing. They haven't had confirmed build dates for MY2014 cars yet. I'm sure we'll all hear about the same time.

I wonder if one of our learned Mercedes colleagues could shed some light on how the ordering system actually works.:)

Also, if an ordered car is cancelled will Mercedes (Country Specific) look to use than cancelled car to fill another order or will the car be delivered to the original dealership and they get to sell it off the floor?

I put in my order 2 months ago and i still dont have a confirmed date... I told off my salesman today... the fixed production runs for the June production hasn't been set yet.
Wow, I got my date within a few days. I just recently changed somethings and was given a date with a few days as well.

Hi bulaboy. Please check your private messages.
Hi Mr Mercedes
As you can see I am new here, I only discovered this Forum today and have thoroughly enjoyed the information provided.
I am seriously considering placing an order in the next few days for the same spec model as yourself but in Mountain Grey for delivery in November 13.
I have read with interest regarding the Command unit upgrade as i also currently own an iPhone 5 and would like to have full integration given that i'm laying out $3000 for the unit.
As questioned by Bulaboy, is there anything else i need request when i place my order?

Wow ...very very nice !! ..now i'm not sure about Mountain Grey ahrrrr !

@ Kdcprp Congratulations ! Very nice, by the sounds of it you might be a while learning all the settings :) I was maybe thinking of asking if I could have colour coded mirrors but yours looks really nice against the Grey.

Based on your delivery date of November, I'd safely say you'll receive a MY14 build which comes with the newer Comand unit. June and onward builds will be MY14.

What exactly does 'overboost' mean? no idea.
Just means say the turbo runs 7psi boost under normal driving conditions, with the A250 under full throttle it will put out an extra few psi over standard - "over boost". A lot of tuning mods use overboost - at different times in different situations - to increase overall performance (along with other mods).

Thanks for that.
So I assume that when the tuners such as brabus quote figures of 180kW, they're most likely doing something to increase longevity/timing of boost pressure. On a side note, have you heard of any good tuners in Australia that deal with MB's?

Surprised how many reviewers get the power wrong on the A250 sports.
Yes, well another interesting review. But I can just hear the conversation between the journo and the bmw folks: "don't worry fellas, the MB gets it this time, just by a little bit though, then when your new model comes out, well, we both know who will come out the winner then ;)"

I read somewhere recently (maybe the VW forum, or was it here somewhere? - think I've got CRAFT's disease!) where a 'journo' stated that all the reviews have to be run by the manufacturer first, along with a few other interesting reveals about the way cars are reviewed in Aust (could explain how some lower quality vehicles get such phenomenal reviews regardless of their over-pricing. Speaking of which, given Australian $ at the moment, we are getting our arms ripped out by the Asian car industry- over $60k for a Mazda 6 and over $50k for a Hyundai I40 - you've got to be joking yes?

Anyway, back to the review, there is just no way the 125 is better in ANY areas than the MB. Even the rear wheel drive is not the advantage that he prattles on about IMHO. And as BMW themselves argue about the new 1 series:
"BMW is confident that the UKL architecture will offer a drive experience to address scepticism of its departure from rear-wheel drive.
"In the '90s we broke with tradition when we began selling SUVs along with our sedans", UKL project manager Frank Niederlaender said.
"Customers realised they could get the driving dynamics BMW is renowned for, from an SUV. We will see the same transition happening with front-wheel drive."
Apologies for my ranting, hope I haven't offended anyone.

Thanks for that.

Not sure what Brabus do with their plug and play units, but some tuners do up boost pressure for sure. But it's not as simple as just increasing boost pressure. In the early days, lots of boy racers would do just that, often with catastrophic results.

On a side note, have you heard of any good tuners in Australia that deal with MB's?
No, I've emailed the Brabus dealer in Melbourne a few times, but never get any reply. I asked my dealer and he couldn't help. Think I'll give Guy Harding a call in Brisbane as he looked after me with the VWs. He might know someone. There's got to be someone out there, the A250 is just screaming for it! And as the A250 is pulling a lot of VAG and BMW owners over, they'll be not only wanting it, but they'll be expecting it too!

Modding these engines is a bit of a dark art, so got to make sure who ever I give my car to is well respected, experienced and proven.

Hi Shillo. If your car is being delivered in November 2013, it is undoubtedly a MY2014 model year which has the updated Command NTG4.5 V3. This system FINALLY allows internet functionality with the iPhone and other androids. Unfortunately the full integration, known as Drive Kit Plus (Facebook, twitter etc.), is presently not being offered in Australia and I don't believe there are any plans to do so at this stage. But if it ever is, it probably bodes well that your car will have the most recent command system. Hope this helps.
