Fantastic car, but there is one thing that is annoying me with the design; the black louvres on the hood just below the front screen. It looks very plastic (although I guess it is carbon fibre). I think it would be estethically better if they painted it in the same colour as the car, or that the black colour continued up to the front screen.

A face only a fanboy could love!

Seriously though, one thing I do quite like is that you can see similar design elements in the headlamps to the recently unvelied Maybach Sudan.. it's a nice touch.

Haha, "Sudan"...I am ashamed to say it took me a good 10 seconds to appreciate that.

Now regarding the face of Project One....I don't hate and I don't like it. I find it rather "m'eh." I see some heritage in the form of the Saubers of yesteryears. As a whole, I find the understated design growing on me more and more, similar to how I think the Porsche 918 wasn't the darling of the trio of hypercars at its introduction, but now I consider it my favorite of the three.

Different angle

As I said before I don't like the black louvres below the front screen, you can see clearly in this photo how odd it looks. Hope they paint it or something on the production model. Otherwise I love the design.

I'm sure you can have it painted when your order slot comes in. ;):p

True, had'nt thought about that.... And some other owners can paint the louvres gold or purple like many do with their Bugatti's or Pagani's.....

My friend saw it in person.

And it seems like it’s currently traveling with the MB F1 team for R&D purposes

You mean, for MARKETING purposes. I promise you that there is nothing they will learn trackside with this that isn't already being transmitted back to brixworth... and even then ... it's ludicrous to suggest on track performance and off track viability are linked.

The Project one engineer I drink with has been a no-show for a while, I'd be curious to know where they're at since the "smoke and mirrors" launch, which is the last behind the scenes update I had.

Probably... I just went with the caption from the photo description.

I’m waiting to see when they’ll start conducting normal road/track testing with an actual test car and not this 1of1 showcar we keep seeing.

And as much as I hate to say, there’s something missing in Project One’s design, imo. Doesn’t wow me like a LaFerrari or a Chiron.

I find the frames of the doors too thick and the rear console also. This makes the car to look very ungainly.
This is how(slim) these components should look:

In my opinion, the fact they launched this car in silver says it all. This car's purpose is to immediately draw a connection to F1 and to come off as purposeful, not eye catching or beautiful. The Chiron, and to a lesser extent the LaFerrari, are more of showpieces (not to take away from their extreme capability).
