AMG ONE [Official] Mercedes-AMG Project ONE

The Mercedes-AMG One (R50, previously known as Project One) is a limited-production plug-in dual hybrid sports car manufactured by Mercedes-AMG, featuring Formula One-derived technology. The Project One concept car was unveiled at the 2017 International Motor Show Germany by the then three-time F1 world champion and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 driver, Lewis Hamilton and head of Mercedes-Benz, Dieter Zetsche. The production version of the AMG One was unveiled on June 1, 2022 and production began in August.
Sorry for the laughing reactions, but I can't help myself.

Props to Ferrari for making it with the F50, Porsche with the CGT and BMW with the E60 M5.

They never had a concrete target, although they did talk a lot of general BS hoping you would come to the conclusion it can break all sorts of times (like when they said that they were "looking at" the Stefan Bellof's 6:11 former record).

This reminds me, though, this might be the last day for you to take part in the GCF lap time guessing game! Basically, guess the lap time the AMG One will do around the N-ring. We are looking at the full lap time, not Sport Auto config - so the current record would be 6:48 by the AMG GT Black Series.

So far the guesses are:

Me: 6:35
bmwz4coupe: 6:29
Matski: 6:24
WBarnes: 6:24
I will add my guess in there as well.. 6:21

Still haven't figured it out what's the correlation with BMW's V10 and F1 engine...

E60 M5 - V10

"Close link to Formula One technology both in engine and transmission".
"Built with proper F1 knowledge: the multi-awarded S85 engine is BMW’s sole 10-cylinder powerplant ever produced."

I didn't say correctly what I meant, sorry. A.P. said props for Porsche and Ferrari for putting F1 engine in a road car and all I see is that S85 is "F1 inspired" engine which is something different than CGT and F50

Mercedes probably should’ve learned their lesson from Ferrari. The F50’s performance specs didn’t even best that of the F40 which is why they did all they could to be prevent reviewers from running any official test figures.

My guess for the N'ribg time is >6 min and 50 sec. Electric motors reach their full power early and sustain it through the rev range. So ussually when the accelerator is pushed they work at 100% of their power. This battery can power all the electric motors for only 50 sec and is empty. I suppose this will happen arround the 10th km of the N'ring and the rest is on 570 hp only for those 1700 DIN kg. Even 7 min is probably not achievable.

The weight target of 1300kg was way off for AMG and its grown to nearly 1700kg which is a massive disappointment. The performance figures also slower than that revealed with the concept, I think Mercedes have put themselves in a very difficult spot with this car. In 5 years of development it initially looked very competitive but now cars costing 5xtimes less are just as fast. The 0-100 time of 2.9sec sounds extremely slow for a 1063PS car with AWD, maybe a bit conservative when Nico Rosberg estimated in his previous videos about 2,2sec.

Wait,what? ??

Is this true btw? Pretty sure I remember Clarkson driving it and hating it that time around

It is stunning , No car like it.
1696 kg with fluids not dry minus the driver.

could it be lighter , sure .. could it post Lower times if acceleration and breaking sure.

but I think the devil is in the details and how it operates as a unit, so I must wait for the driving impressions.

whatever it is, it’s more than everything combined from your favorite bum brand (bmw) the ultimate driving machine that specializes in city SUV’s lmao. Stfu please

I too, will be eager to see the test drives. It surely won’t be winning a game of Top Trumps anytime soon, but maybe the driving 4might make all the difference? Who knows..

focusing on the power, the weight and the acceleration, it looks disappointing on paper - but hey, let’s how it conveys the whole performance envelope on a proper drive… Hmmm
