Question -- AMG GT 2-seater appears to be almost the same length as the AMG GT concept.
But the concept obviously has 2 rows of seats. So does this mean the original AMG GT has that much more ENGINE (yellow box in the attached picture)?
BTW, their naming convention apparently sucks.
[EDIT: realized the 4 seater will be a bit longer than the 2 seater (40cm?), but still the 2 seater seems to have a lot of engine in there.]
You need to look under the hood of the 2 -seater. It's not about engine size, but engine placement. The 4 door is a completely different lay out. The 2-door has the complete engine block well behind the front axle. I'd say 6-8 inches. It's really something to see. Plus, no oil pan, and the engine sits right at the lowest possible place. I don't know if this will be the case for the 4 door. I'd guess it will be more like in the C63, which is the same engine.Question -- AMG GT 2-seater appears to be almost the same length as the AMG GT concept.

I think it's odd considering how track ready the AMG-GT is. It is almost too track ready. Amazing car, but folks who are used to MB performance are not used to a car like this. Even a basic 911 has more accommodation in the cabin. This, for all purposes, is a race car, yet it has a very conventional GT look. The styling, while beautiful, doesn't really grab you like an R8 or other mid/rear engine car will. You are probably right. There are several front/mid engine cars that are like that. A bit odd MB never does rear/mid engine cars.

I think you can get a more modern look with a mid/rear like the R8.
Sad, considering how well the AMG and other heavy metal (expensive) units are selling. The AMG-GT is not selling particularly well.
As a sales rep i compare it to anything my clients might be considering. And a porsche buyer is certainly in the mix. Just had a great client in who bought a 911 simply because he could not get the AMG GT in a manual. To be clear, what exactly are you comparing AMG GT sales to? It's obviously not going to pull Porsche 911 sales but at its price point with just the coupe form available I'm not sure what you were expecting. To add onto that, not many other brands have cars like the SL63/SL65 available for the more casual drivers at around the same price.
I just got to see this now, and my reaction is simply
