GT [Official] Mercedes-AMG GT Concept

The Mercedes-AMG GT is a series of 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. While not directly replacing the SLS AMG (competing in a different segment), it is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG.
Don't think Mercedes will remove the CLA or GLA they have both sold very well and have got in many new people in to the Mercedes Group.Yes they haven't been the best cars but i think their second Generations should be a improvement so i don't see them dropping those two infact rumours are they adding the A class Sedan as well as the GLB so essentially they growing the category.

Regarding this concept i don't see the problem obviously i think it looks very good and i definatelty think it has a lot of Mercedes DNA and the actual car i think will be much closer to the two door AMG GT..As what Gordan said we can expect 90 percent of what we see that means no crazy rims..The lights will be toned down. The grill and bumper also will be toned down.

The car itself is not going to be the regular 4 door coupe for that Mercedes has the NEW CLS or CLE..

This i think is a more higher market true sports car and it will be a monster performance wise from what we hearing.

Personally i am gald thsi car is going to be different then the other cars in the range as this is a different beast from Mercedes regular four door cars.Strange thing is if it was close to the regular 4 door Mercedes then people will say its a copy and paste now they try something based on their own AMG GT and its also not the rite decision as per some people so yeah i guess we all have different expectations..I am loving it and i liked the video in which Gordan gave us his views on the design. One thing is for sure its a great time being a Mercedes Fan.The AMG GT...THE new R50 AMG comming soon not to forget the new cars launched like E cabrio and E coupe i think Mercedes are on a roll.

Well it does look juicy and erotic. Tantalizing. I've literally fallen in love with it. I like every aspect of it and it is going to be one hell of sedan.

It's actually too high for what it is. It's more like a Panamera which is not known to be especially sleek.
It is definitely not a 4dr AMG GT in regards to the height and glasshouse depth.
In hindsight it shows they have done their homework and investigated the packaging requirements in order to make production.

LOL.

I'm glad you're so enthusiastic about it Amat. While I do find it beautiful, like others here I'm not entirely convinced it's only got MB DNA running through its veins. I don't agree with the Mustang and BMW comparisons, but I can't help but see some Tesla in the body work. They have obviously sprinkled Mercedes design elements all over, but is that the extent of it?

How is it too high for what it is, when it's clearly a Panamera rival, supposedly 90%, but more realistically 75%, production ready?

In an interview with Road & Track, Moers confirmed that a four-door AMG GT will go into production next year, albeit, without the concept car's high-tech hybrid system. While this four-door will join the two-door AMG GT family, it won't used a stretched version of that car's platform.

"That's not going to be feasible for rear legroom," said Moers. "It's based on the E-Class, the E63 platform, modified. It's not the same but it's just the floor. Everything else will be different."

Most of the hardware changes to the E-Class platform will be done in the name of improving stiffness, per Moers. He's extra-focused on making sure AMG's four-door has as strong a chassis as possible.

The 805-hp hybrid drivetrain, with a twin-turbo V8 and electric motors at each front wheel, isn't quite ready for primetime, though. Moers says this type of drivetrain will arrive in an AMG production car in "three or four years."

For AMG to get its drivetrain production ready, the company will need to do a lot of development work making all the electric components lighter. Since there's only so much light weighting that can be done with the chassis and body panels, AMG needs lighter batteries and electric motors.

Still, hybridization at AMG is something to look forward to, as Moers promises more power and better lap times from its cars. AMG's hybrid drivetrains will still send most of their power to the rear wheels, while offering torque vectoring at the front axle. Neat stuff.

We're betting the AMG four-door arriving next year won't have torque vectoring at the front axle, though. Why? While he didn't confirm it, Moers hinted that the four-door will be rear-wheel drive, like the AMG GT Coupe and Roadster.

"Expect with the GT four-door, all the technical aspects which you can have in our two-doors coming out of the GT R," says Moers.

When we asked Moers if that meant definitively that the four-door was rear-wheel drive, he said simply "everything's included."

Far from a confirmation, but hardly a denial either. Considering the AMG E63 and the GT four-door will be similarly sized, rear-wheel drive would be a good differentiator between the two as well.

We'll find out for sure what AMG has in store next year.

The production version of the amg gt 4 door won't be getting the crazy 800 hp engine after all

I like it ...but honestly, if you removed the tri-star I would assume this was a concept for the next Ford Mondeo.

And what's with everyone now adopting this grille shape?

So MB is going to have 2 different 4 door coupe based on the E class. So will there be a CLS 63, or will customers just go straight to this?

YES!
No hybrid BS and a possibility of a pure RWD V8. However going by his "everything's included" response I'm afraid it will be the 4matic+ with drift mode...
Using E63's platform is perfectly fine as long as they manage to make the car A LOT lighter.
Using E's platform makes it a better family car/daily driver and could also mean that it will be more "affordable" too.
It coming in 2018 is just more great news IMO.
Please, Benz! Get it right!

Sounds like it will get the 4-wheel steering package as well. should do wonders for the handling.
