One point of criticism on the interior: no leather airbagcap in the steering wheel.

Fair enough , but then,it would be in a position to challenge the S-Class AMG if they had specced it up too high

The decision makers don't sit there and think "if we stick a leather air bag cover on the E 63, it will be too close to the S 63". It's simply a case of cost. There will be a budget for what each E 63 should cost to make, and they have to stick to it. The S 63 will not even be in the thoughts of the people in the decision-making process.

Ok, ok, I was just making a suggestion as to why they didn't offer a meather airbag cover, surely I'm no expert on this, or the MB brand. You and @Mick Briesgau are probably right, I do stand corrected

There are probably several reasons why MB doesn't offer a leather airbagcap on the E 63. Imo MB thinks such a leather airbagcap isn't associated with a sporty car, more so associates it with luxury. Hence the S klasse has it. Interesting is that the CLS for instance hasn't got a leather airbagcap as standard. If you spec it with wood/leather steering wheel the airbagcap comes in leather. If you spec the E klasse with wood/leather steering wheel the airbagcap still isn't made of leather.
I'm no expert either :)

I actually like how the 5-spokers look! They give a very clean, crisp appearance and I love it! They look slightly different than the 5-spoke rims on the W212F E63.

Haven't seen an example without Ceramics! Are those standard? I wouldn't think so.

Ofcourse they are an option as always normal steel rotors are standard.

MB mechanic friend estimates maintenance on E63S will be similar if not slightly more than the C63S, his clients on average are seeing costs of:

$400-500 each tire every 30,000km (daily drivers, no track at all)
$2,500 for front breaks, $1800 for back breaks, $4300 total new ceramic breaks every 40000-50000km (daily only, no track)

So with a set of winter and summer tires, estimated maintenance cost is in line with other AMG daily driven cars:
aprox ~$3000 CAD (or $2300 USD) per year for breaks/tires wear and tear, + mercedes service package

and of course he followed by saying "you gotta pay to play!" :)
