GT [Official] McLaren Grand Tourer

The McLaren GT is a two seat grand tourer designed and manufactured by the British automobile manufacturer McLaren Automotive. It is the company's first dedicated grand tourer and is based on the same platform underpinning the 720S with the addition of a carbon fiber rear deck topped by a glazed tailgate creating significantly greater storage capacity.
For some reason it's the first McLaren model to look good to me from the first image!

This will definitely be a car to lease or buy on finance rather than outright. Because its GT positioning its depreciation will be worse than the 720s or Hurecan.

Yeah, in terms of value, buying a new McLaren is like lighting money on fire.

Second-hand is tricky too because most mechanics aren’t qualified or know how work on them. I’d love a 720, but not sure I can stomach the long-term ownership experience.

Doesnt Mclaren offer long approved used car warranty like ferrari.

Up to 12 years, but you need to buy it new or CPO. Other second-hand cars, which are notably cheaper, they are not eligible.
McLaren Extended Warranty

What comes to mind for me are the nightmares MP4-12c and 650S owners had/have.

Isn’t this Fux’s 720s? All the six figures feature MSO options barely increased it’s value compared to other 720’s with similar mileage.

Yea it’s similar to the Lambo “special editions” such as Pirelli and Goodwood. They cost a lot more up front and are one of xxx but don’t increase value used. Ferrari and Porsche show how it’s done.

This video goes into some close ups with the exterior and it has some terrific styling details. The slim rear lights with grills look amazing in the profile view. The front air intakes are fabulously shaped. The interior looks beautiful, classy and luxurious and sporty all in one.

For roughly the same price, which British GT would you have. DB11 or Mclaren GT?

McLaren over DB11, but DBS Superleggera over ANYTHING.

M

Only if the new DBS didn’t have a BDSM dungeon interior. Double stitching every panel doesn’t fix the interior design situation. Exterior-wise, it’s the best looking new car on sale.

As far as a pure “Grand Tourer” car goes, S63 Coupé or CGT for me. I wouldn’t mind a LC500 either.

Should be a Poll in a separate thread from post #129 onward no?
I agree about separating it if the discussion can hold its own...

By the way, I have a suggestion @martinbo

I'd like to mention that if it's better to tag this thread as "official" instead of keeping it as "Spied", and since the discussion has become convoluted that it seems a bit late to start a new one, unless you, or one of the moderators would like add a press release and move the start of the discussion to that new thread.

Thank you :)

Let's leave the poll for now - maybe the debate has fizzled out already.
I think a fellow mod has changed the thread label to "Official" already.

The design is quite uninspiring. Honestly, they should’ve made it a front-engined. How many mid-engine cars does McLaren need?
