NX [Official] Lexus NX Crossover Concept

I think there should be a separate thread since the production car has been revealed already and the reviews are being posted.

Anyway, here's the Carbuyer review of the NX 300h.

I saw this car for the first time today. Similar to the Z4 or the E60 5-Series, it looks less awkward in person than it does in photos or videos. The shading at the rear is very interesting. In fact, the 3/4 view is its best angle and a very dynamic one too. This is the colour I saw it in:

Love the boldness of this styling language. I was so impressed when the first concepts were revealed. It does a great job of differentiating from the Rav-4 and bodes well for future Lexus. I hope they stick with and eventually master the language. This is really an almost there execution.

When the marketers told the designers that they wanted a multi-faceted product... ahem.

I saw this a couple of weeks ago. It's so over the top, and not even in a good way. It looks a bit awkward and tall on the road IMO.

At least its a positive step in the right direction, which is away from the outdated and uninspiring design of the RX.

I saw thee of them so far, in pearl white, black and in this horrible beige color. Car looks good in white and black, good enough for me to put it on my shopping list.

C'mob Luw. Just look at these proportions. YUCK!

I not a 100% perfect design I have to say. The language and vision is original but the front could be tamed to look less masochistic and aggressive. For Lexus is a massive achievement to have designed something that doesn't take inspiration from a 1990s Mercedes Benz but yet can't be mistaken for a Camry or a Huyndai.

If they can fine-tune the front-end of this car then it could evolve into a good choice for Europans who want something attractive but different.

Saw one in white the other day. I think it looked alright. I think the white helped tone down some of the overly sharp lines and convex surfaces. The front end is still a little too adventurous for my tastes, but as I've said with the IS, props to Toyota/Lexus for making something that grabs your attention and makes you think about the design.

Man. What the hell is up with Beige/Gold colors on cars? It makes cars look HORRIBLE. Please car companies, get rid of these colors. OT, but I saw the new C-class in that color..OMG, I wanted to throw my chocolate shake at the person driving for ordering that color.

I have yet to see this car. I don't think it's popular where I live.

LOL. Yeah unfortunately they thought it only referred to design.

Australian reviews have not been kind to this Lexus and it got quite a blasting from the judges in local car of the year testing (Wheels Magazine).

Just FYI, the hot favorites are:
BMW I3
Mazda 2
Mercedes C-class
Mercedes S-class
Tesla

I saw one in person the other day. It looks less ugly in flesh & sure turns more heads than any other Lexus utilities out there.

The effect of battery discharge on the acceleration

Test drove the NX 200T today, car handles well, minimal body roll, sharp steering, the brakes are progressive and easy to modulate. The acceleration is swift, but there is a little but noticeable turbo lag down low in the rev range.

What's your overall take on it. It is a good car for the European market?

As a car for daily driving and living it should do well, it is particle, spacious, quiet, comfortable, and it has enough power for the occasional spirited driving. It also has all the features you will ever want or need. As for the interior, the design of the center console doesn't appeal to me but the overall fit and finish and the choice of material are up to the premium standard. The one real issue I have with the car is the infotainment system, the operation is fine, I just find the general layout, graphics a bit last generation compare to BMW, MB, Audi, and the system lags a little behind your command. The dimension of this car is a little unusual, it is short at just over 4.6m, but it is quite wide at over 2m including the side mirrors.

The pricing for the N200t hasn't been set yet but it should sit somewhere between the X3 and GLA.

To answer your question Luw, I think it is a good car, however I don't know enough about the European market to give you a useful answer. What sort of things do European buyers look for these days in this sector?
