NX [Official] Lexus NX Crossover Concept

Kids in the backseat are either watching headrest mounted DVD screens, or they're on their phone/tablet. What the heck do they need windows for? To look outside? ... o_O

:D

In fact, what they should do is implement the idea that Boeing's been toying with back when the 777 was in development in the 90's. Simply remove the windows and have external cameras feed live images on to the seatback screens. They can still have a door there for getting in and out of the car, but just no window. Maybe this could be a valid idea for more compact/coupe like vehicles.

In fact, they could advance this a little to not simply show what's outside, but actually provide interesting facts and videos relating to the area you are traveling. GPS determines where you are, and then automatically provides interesting factoids, images, historical videos, etc of the city, town, POI you are at.

Or for uber-luxury vehicles like a Phantom, from the outside make it look like a window, but on the inside it's a screen...and that screen doesn't show what's going on outside, but rather what that particular street would look like with no other vehicles or pedestrians around. A serene, clean atmosphere that further caters to private and intimate feel of such a vehicle.

Phantom owners would die if they couldn't see pedestrians staring at them as they whisked by.

Well in that case, have the rear windows be external screens as well...so even on their worst day, they look fabulous! [Problem Solved]

:D

Pity Subaru won't give us this to play with. 4WD is such an authentic part of their message. Their manufacturing processes, as far as the propaganda I've read is renewable-centric. If they can do a successful hybrid compromise?

So Subaru being Subaru.... with regards to this concept, the only thing we can say will be carried over to a production variant with absolute certainty is the fact that it will have four wheels.

This thing looks great. Like a lower Mazda CX-5.

My hope for Subaru is that their design and production language and expertise will merge, and it will be a beauty to behold. Keep hope alive!

I prefer this pre-production hybrid grill to the one seen on the revealed car in Bejing. Less Predator, better approach angle. Just seems more subtle and practical.

It's going to sell for sure. It isn't so bad looking actually.

it's done to visually cut down the size of those mirrors....those are some big ol'....mirrors.

Yes, those are big mirrors, still, it reminds me of budget cars where it was an upgrade to get body coloured bits rather than basic black. I would rather the Dumbo sized mirrors be proud of themselves...

Lexus NXC Design Study for a Slicker Looking BMW X4 Fighter

If the past has shown us anything, it is that if one automaker makes a product that fashions a new segment or even a sub-segment and it's successful, other companies will follow suit – the original Toyota RAV4 and the BMW X6 are just two examples. Heck, automakers themselves will try to replicate their own success by using the same formula on a different size vehicle.
This doesn't guarantee success, of course, as many vehicle manufacturers learned the hard way, including Acura with the BMW X6-like ZDX that was quietly put to rest last year.

After leaving the Germans dominate the compact SUV segment for years, Lexus decided to fight back this year with the NX, an edgy-looking proposal that also brings to the table the firm's first turbocharged gasoline unit (a 235hp / 238PS 2.0L inline-four). It will go head to head with the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLK.

The Bavarian firm, however, has already moved on to the next level presenting the X6's small brother in the guise of the X4, which shares its styling with the former and its underpinnings with the X3.

Photoshop manipulator Remco Meulendijk of DesignRM took a speculative look at a Lexus NX-based competitor for the BMW X4, which he baptized the NXC. The main difference with the NX in F Sport trim is the coupe-like roofline that drops down to the modified tailgate, with the rest of the car remaining as is. If Lexus were to build a sportier compact crossover, it would have to further differentiate it from the NX.

It reminds me of the Mazda C-X9. Very generic looking...:yuck:

Sports pack is a must.

I like it, humble like this. Make the window trim and the roof rails black, instead of the current chrome, and it would look a bit better.

2015 Lexus NX Configurator Goes Online

Lexus is slowly paving the roads for the all new 2014 NX crossover to reach dealerships around the world this fall. After the UK specs and prices got released recently, the automaker's international website now comes with a 3D configurator to better visualize what you'll be able to purchase.

The new Lexus NX configurator is addressing the US version this time, but unfortunately it comes only with some basic choices for you to try.

As with the UK model, you can select between the Lexus 200t or the 300h and both models can be rotated in order for you to see the details that differentiate one from the other.

Along with that, you can fit the F Sport pack and admire the fully-meshed front grille from different angles as well as the bigger 18-inch rims and other minor design cues.

The visualizer also enables you to check what body finish you can order your NX in, depending on what variant you pick and if you also want it with the special sporty pack.

Interior equipment for each grade is still unrevealed for the US model, but it should follow the same pattern with the UK market. However, they won't be scattered throughout as many packs as the British version.

To remind you about the powertrains you can get, the 200t will be motivated by the automaker's all new 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit making 235 bhp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 300h will get the same powertrain you get in the hybrid IS – a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine aided by an electric motor, making up for 194 bhp.
