The engine MSRP is $156K because it is too laborious to build. It was bored/stroked to reach 10,000 rpm easily and producing flat power, which sacrifices low end torque. So they would essentially have to redesign the whole engine to produce low end torque to make the 4100 lbs GSF not feel lifeless below 6000 rpm.
The Code X 5.3 Liter V10 version of the LFA engine was only used in racing in the SP Pro class (and did very well in the 24 hours). It had the same air restrictors on as per requirements of the class limiting it to 7500 rpm like the 4.8 Liter version, but it produced a lot more torque due to the additional displacement.
It offered some hope that Lexus had been planning a gen 2 of the V10 with a lot more power etc., but it never went much further than that. Maybe, there was something planned that got shelved, but no one would know.
