XE [Official] Jaguar XE sedan

The Jaguar XE (X760) is a front engine, rear- or all-wheel drive four-door compact-executive saloon manufactured by Jaguar Land Rover and marketed under their Jaguar marque for model years 2016–2024 — across a single generation. The successor to the X-Type, it was designed by Ian Callum and launched at the October 2014 Paris Motor Show. Production of the XE ceased in mid-2024.
Looks like I was right after all. The XE will be getting an upgraded interior.

Ian Callum Wants to Make an Electric Jaguar Supercar With Mid-Engine Proportions
I wholeheartedly admire Ian Callum but think the EX is his weakest car. Jaguar has always been known to be a sexy brand. The F-Type and F-Pace embodies that but the XE doesn't. It's modern and fresh but boring. Ian should look towards the aesthetics Alfa has achieved with the Giulia. While the interior quality leaves a lot to be desired the exterior design is a great ambassador for the brand.

The new 2.0L petrol engine is punch and refined and paired with an interior refresh and jazzed up lights, the XE could finally become a compromise free alternative to its German counterparts.

and i don't think they will develop new v8 in future.

Engine development is very expensive and the Germans are hard to beat. Jaguar are considering going down the same route as Volvo which is accelerating the shift to an EV brand. By 2022-2025 a significant percentage of new cars will be electrified and thus developing a low volume V8 isn't good use of JLRs funds.

It's sad for cars like the SVRs as they sound amazing but the V6 F-Pace doesn't sound too shabby either.

Damn! So basically the entire Jaguar portfolio except for the i-Pace is going to be phased out. Only a sedan in the works, the XJ successor, the XE and XF being replaced by an electric SUV, and the next gen i-Pace replace both the E-Pace and F-Pace. IF the F-Type gets a successor, it would also be electric.

To sum up, when the current Jaguar SUVs go out of the market, there will be no ICE Jaguars at all.

We'll know more about Jaguar's direction in the next 2-3 year. Hybrids are next and focus on EVs won't start until charging infrastructure has radically improved in core markets such at the UK, US, Europe and China.

This week I sat in an XF for the first time. Surprisingly the intior quality is good despite the generic centre console design.

An updated centre console, spiced up tail lights and the new JLR mild hybrid engines will do wonders for this car's appeal!

The issue I have with the XF is that it lost its USP where it was an anomaly in the segment where design wise it was the most-Coupe like 4dr in its class. It's reasons for becoming generic are quite obvious in regards to a LWB offered exclusively in China.

The XE shows a lack of faith in regards to progressing their first serious attempt at this segment. They focused on one specific area, dynamics and stressed the point of driver envolvement therefore taking the crown from the BMW 3er. However they failed to follow BMWs lead where they actually advanced the 3er to reflect the demands of the market. No longer was driver envolvement the specific essential need. But all round competency and that's is why the 3er maintained that market lead.

There should have been a production SVR as the press waxed lyrical to its Attributes but did not even consider the general public and potential owner the possibility to see for themselves.
General markets in this segment also prefer their sports sedan as a sports hold-all and the lack of this option is another contributing factor.

Then if you look at the Competition. They fill out their lines with ajoining Coupe and Cabrio models. And of course there are PHEV models available too.

Now there is an all new BMW 3er which now brings back driver envolvement to its other tried and tested attributes. A new C-Klasse is on its way as is a fully updated Audi A4.
The new Volvo S60 looks mightily impressive especially in Polestar form.
And then you have the lesser known Lexus IS which should due for an complete update soon. But also the Genesis G70.Which Hyundai.DE have promised me a drive in early 2019. And Cadillac(Typing this without trying to laugh!:icon_mrg:)

Jaguar might be getting ready to lift itself off the ground with the refreshed XE, but it makes you wonder if it is too little too late and they might just be left behind again?

The visual arbitrariness of the XE and XF as well as the hardly arbitrary but, in some aspects, affectedly-penned XJ have banished Jaguar to the most remote outer periphery of the sport/luxury sedan market. And what a great pity that is.

I hope that Jaguar can truly deliver with the upcoming (at least, I hope "upcoming" in view of BREXIT...global recession concerns...etc.) BEV XJ successor. I'd love to see them back.

I agree. If I was in the market for something less ordinary, I'd pick the Ghibli before I'd go with the XF. Design wise the XF has lost the touch of the beautiful Jags of the past .

"Jaguar" evokes memories of one of my dads' collegues. A major fan of the marque who, over the span of the late-1960s' through late-1970s', owned numerous examples. Usually purchased pre-owned, 2-3 years old. I recall a couple of HUGE 420G Mark Xs'...and 3 or 4 XJ6s'-series I & IIs'. They were very special cars in Germany of that era.

It looks like the XE FL involves more aggressive front and realights, which is a good start. The interior needs and entire redesign to stay competitive.

Both Jaguar and Alfa Romeo have focused on out-sporting the 3-Series, and both have delivered genuinely engaging alternatives...........but with compromises.

To be frank about Jaguar, I think that Ian Callum is resting on his laurels. The F-Type, F-Pace, E-Pace and XF shooting brake are the only recent compelling designs of his. Sedans are his weakest category. His ambitions with the XJ were ambitions and an admirable departure from "old Jaguar". However it has aged poorly and, as @Jimmy mentioned, is at the outer periphery of luxury car choices.

This lackluster car gets a facelift and it helps some.........

It is very disappointing to see that the V6 has been dropped from the U.S. market.

In the United States, there will be only be two engine options. The XE S starts at $39,900 and features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 247 hp (184 kW / 250 PS). Rear-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel is available for an additional $2,000.

Fans can also order the XE R-Dynamic S which has a base price of $46,295. That’s a sizable jump, but the car comes standard with all-wheel drive and upgraded four-cylinder producing 296 hp (221 kW / 300 PS).

It has a very sleek profile and a very nice front. It's a shame the rear end is so indifferent.

They should've made a true M3,C63,Gulia quad competitor with this.
The Project 8 is too damn expensive for an XE!
