Start to like the new Golf!! I'm interested in how the new GTI will look like! :)

This is so much better looking than the MkV. Even though, still is based on the MkV platform.

I'm looking forward to the GTI MkVI.

I'm still looking fwd to seeing it IRL.. Those pics can be very decieving

:t-cheers:

Its going to make a nice Rabbit here in the U.S. Hopefully VW won't wait years and years to bring it over this time.

Can somebody with photoshopping skills make a chop of the Golf VI with the Scirocco's front light graphics (the instruments/lenses inside the headlight unit) so that we can see what it will look like with the xenons?

It should sharpen the front look a lot.

Will they fit the 2.5 I-5 20V engine in it or will they finally sell it with the 1.4 TSI engine?

I heard that despite being less powerful than the GTI, the Rabbit 2.5 actually burns more fuel than the sporty version. How weird is that? :t-hands:

I wish I knew. The Golf/Rabbit isn't a big seller here so I'm sure whichever engine is less expensive is what we'll get for the base model.

^^
That only applies to the red one, go and look at the other images on WCF. Not very pretty.

Volkswagen Golf Mk6 in Depth

Volkswagen will present its all-new Golf Mk6 next month at the Paris Motor Show in front of the world's media, a model that the German automaker hope will continue the dominant position the Golf has held in its segment over the last 30 years.

The design for the Mk6 model was headed up by Walter de Silva who achieved his task of giving the Golf a greater presence on the road. The recently launched Scirocco provided the inspiration for the sportier outlook, but the characteristics that make the Golf so special in the hearts of so many enthusiasts have made the mark.

Once we open the door and head inside, we can take a good look at the interior design, rather than look at a complete overhaul in this area, it appears the Volkswagen designers have taken the clean successful design from the Mk5 and led it to the next evolution. Consumers will of course be treated to an array of new features, take the new RNS 310 touchscreen radionavigation system that we see nestled in the center panel as a prime example. The automatic climate control system (Climatronic) that was first introduced in the Passat CC will also find its way to the Golf along with special sound-damping film in the windshield making the Mk6 the quietest model since the legendary series began.

The engines have received significant attention from the engineers, for the new generation the Golf will have two diesel engines and four gasoline engines. The diesel offerings both have a displacement of 2.0-liters with the first offering a power output of 110hp(81kW) whilst its more powerful sibling generates 140hp(103kW). The gasoline engines start with the entry level 80hp(59kW) 1.4-liter engine rising to the 160hp (118kW) 1.4 TSI engine, a 122hp(90kW) 1.4 TSI and a 102hp (75kW)1.6.liter engine fit nicely in between them.

Volkswagen will also offer its dual clutch transmission system (DSG) in place of the conventional automatic transmission from the previous generation, it will be available in either six-speed or seven-speed form and can be mated with any engines apart from the entry level versions. Five-speed and six-speed transmission is offered as standard.

The Golf Mk6 will also benefit from some of Volkswagen's latest technologies, these include DCC Adaptive Chassis Control, ACC Automatic Distance Control, Park Assist, Rear Assist rearview camera and Park Pilot with visual display.

I am bemused by VWAG's pursuit of the 1.4 TSI concept. I don't understand why Audi has a nice 1.8 Turbo DI engine delivering 118 kW and VW has a 1.4 Turbo/Supercharged DI engine that also delivers 118 kW. Doesn't make sense to me... I'd rather that Audi engine be fitted to the Golf than that fussy & complicated, low-displacement 1.4.

I dont understand their apparent love affair with that engine either. It certainly isnt overly loved by the press or enthusiasts at all!
