Golf Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

The front looks great!
The rear is quite boring actually.

Engine specs? Is it the promised 211 hp?

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

Thats rather hot..
They fixed the front.. im very happy about that:D

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

Very nice evolution of the V.

The 3 door is a big iprovment over the V 3 door.

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

I like it too, wheels from the Jetta GLI and all.

Oh dear... oh dear oh dear!

What's going on? My first impressions aren't good. First of all, they could have darned well made more of an effort to put some new wheels on this "all new" GTI. I don't like those blingy ninja star numbers. Should have been a more sophisticated 5 spoke unit.

The red striping in the front grill is sentimental rubbish. It happened to work nicely in the shield-grill format of the Mk V but these two parallel lines are garish and cheesy.

The rest of the car looks lovely; great front bumber treatment, tasty side sills and nice rear bumper diffuser and exhaust placement. Shape-wise it looks the business - sadly it's let down by some seemingly rushed and ill-resolved detailing (red striping and wheels).

That was my 1st impression too; i could ignore red stripes, but c'mon...! The same wheels like Mk. V??? :thumbdown:thumbdown

Interior looks great as well as front and rear bumper treatment. And it's amazing what xenons can do to a car...;)

Overall it's great and if i was in market for it, the rims would definitely have to go.
:t-cheers:

I'm not sure because our U.S. market Jetta GLI's have the same cloth/pattern.

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

I have no problem with the seats. Thankfully I don't have eyes in my ass.

But I'm miffed at the little red ruler that ships as a standard with the grill. What's next - a spirit level?

Otherwise, yes, it is hot.

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

Hmm, interesting comments there Martin.

Overall, I quite like it -- I would change those dreadful wheels though.

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

Contrary to the standard Golf I'm impressed by what VW have accomplished here. The car looks perfect and doesn't need to be ashamed parked next to the Scirroco. Thankfully it's designed for the alive and youthful rather than the bland standard Golf VI targeted towards pensioners. Using the tartan cloth seats is very clever as well. Me like very much.:)

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

I'd swap out the Jetta wheels, but other than that it really looks the part.

re: Official: Golf GTI "Concept" Mk.VI

For the purist. Same strip here Martin.....[/QUOTE]

Thanks Marcus, I remember that strip from years back - a lecturer of mine had a pristine example.

Honestly it has a completely different effect in the Mk 1 and Mk 5.

Here, however in this small grill the stripes look like a quick "heck where do we put the red stripe" afterthought. It's gaudy.

To be honest I'd really hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it. I remember when the GTI had red ignition wires underhood too.
