458 [Official] Ferrari 458 Speciale

The Ferrari 458 Italia (Type F142) is a mid-engine sports car produced by Ferrari. Production: 2009-2015. Predecessor: Ferrari F430. Successor: Ferrari 488.
Autocar 650S vs 458 Speciale test controversy explained:

Good for Ferrari. Within forthcoming road test of 458 Speciale they also tested a customer car to compare. (!)

I like the Speciale, I like what it stands for and it reminds me a bit of the Cosworth and Delta Intergale time. Build to be fast with not too much of luxery (supposed), a bit new tech and still old school (lower weight, sound dempening plates gone or less....).

But when you read the article, I for instance can not withdraw the thought that McLaren did a good job. Why?

The 650S tested is a Spider (and based on the numbers of the 12C and 12C Spyder done by Sportauto, the Coupe was 0.5 seconds faster than the Spyder) with worn tires and they (AutoCar) admitted it could have gone faster with new tires and the Ferrari had a new set of them... But the Ferrari with new tires set the same time as the 650S Spyder with worn tires. Considering that the 650S is not a hardcore car like the Speciale I find that very very interesting!!!!

What would the 650S have done???

Dont get me wrong, I do like a normal aspirated engine better than a turbo (sound, response time...) and I am also a bit old school (used to tune my own car by removing back seat, sound dempening,...) and hey it is a Ferrari for godsake. But still, good job for McLaren!! (y) Just my 2 cents.

you are right but you forget to mention the 45 extra hp in favor of the 650S.Now let me ask: can you imagine the Speciale with 650 hp?

And for EVO, the GT3Rs 3.8 is even better than the Speciale. To be sincere…., difficult to accept at 100% even if I understand some of their reasons ..And I know quite well both cars so I have my own opinion…

Evo has been doing a "best car since they started" or something like that and I believe this is the grand finale. Belongs in internal combustion I guess, but wth, there is a speciale in it -

Which Ferrari is Faster Around a Track, the 458 Speciale or 458 Challenge?

The stunning Ferrari 458 Speciale is the closest thing to a 458 racecar in terms of performance, but you can also drive it on public roads.

That’s a pretty good deal, but the question remains: how close is the 458 Speciale to the 458 Challenge racer in terms of lap times? To find out, Auto Express drove the two cars back to back on Ferrari’s private Fiorano circuit.

Both cars are powered by a 4.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, but while the Speciale has 597hp, the Challenge has to settle for “just” 562hp - exactly like the standard 458 Italia road car.

However, the 458 Challenge is lighter than the Speciale and has a more focused aerodynamic package developed specifically for the racetrack. Taking all these factors into account, which of the two 458s will set a quicker lap time? You’ll have to watch the video posted below to find out.

Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider photographed undisguised in Maranello
Looks as expected
Two fully revealing images of the Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider have surfaced the web prior to next week's possible official reveal.

Following yesterday's configurator screenshots, we now get a best look at the open-top Ferrari 458 Speciale which as you can see will look virtually the same as its fixed roof sibling. The photos were taken in Maranello at Ferrari's factory showing most likely a pre-production car with the roof in position.

The 458 Spider Speciale (name not confirmed) was wearing a Giallo Modena paint complemented by a black & white stripes package on the front and at the back. It had the standard forged 20-inch rims matched with black brake calipers along with a more aggressive and aerodynamic body as seen on the 458 Speciale.

Power comes from the coupe's uprated V8 4.5-liter engine developing 605 HP (445 kW) and 398 lb-ft (540 Nm) of torque which should grant a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in less than 3.4 seconds and a 199+ mph (320+ km/h) top speed.

A public debut is likely scheduled for October 2 during the first press day of the Paris Motor Show so an online reveal could occur later this week.

Wow it looks spectacular much better than the hardtop in my opinion

Personally, I still don't understand the need to have a convertible version of a "TRACK" specialized car, but hey...
