Well, this is Ferrari being Ferrari, nothing new here, though by all accounts there was not much in it as far as Steve Sutcliffe states himself, in other words one was not significantly faster than the other:

"Which is a pity all things considered because, by all accounts, they really were neck and neck around Castle Combe."

It is all about controlling results, but let's be realistic here, Ferrari are not the only ones pulling these kind of 'stunts', when TopGear wanted to test the P1 against the 918 at Dunsfold as this is where all their lap times are set (though they seem to have a lap time set at a less well-known circuit in Spain) on the same day by the same driver, the P1 was strangely enough no longer available (McLaren's HQ in Woking is approx. 16 miles from the Dunsfold track) because it did not suit McLaren at the time.

btw excellent result is coming in my opinion by another British track. Goodwood Hill Climb (and comparison with 650S even if Spider):
1.Nissan GT-R Nismo0:49.27136'15599 / 1720J. Mardenborough
2.Noble M6000:50.10134'09659 / 1277
3.McLaren P10:53.00126'13737 / 1395Jenson Button
4.Lexus LFA0:53.43125'10560 / 1609
5.Porsche 911 Turbo S (991)0:53.90124'13560 / 1605Anthony Reid

Terrific result for the Nissan GT-R Nismo!

Terrific result for the Nissan GT-R Nismo!

I wouldnt assume to much about these times. It is not like a lap on the nurburgring where a race driver goes flat out alone, Goodwood is also used for customers, public relations and so it is often driven at 75% or even less and not 100%.

keep in mind that the result was set by the time attack car and not the production car (both were at the FoS)

You are all right, sorry. I overestimated those results. But let me say that at least the first 3 results on that list, are not a joke in my opinion.
Just check how it was driven (youtube) that GTR Nismo and you will agree that it was not just a race between few friends...
And in case I was not so clear, I am an huge Speciale's fan, not a GTR one.So my respect for the Nismo (even if not standard) and my big plause for the Speciale anyway
even if not so reliable those results.
