E-Class (W212/C207/A207) Official: E-Class Convertible (A207)

The Mercedes-Benz W212 is the fourth generation of the E-Class range. It is the successor to the W211 E-Class. Body styles: four-door sedan/saloon (W212) and five-door estate/wagon (S212). Coupé and convertible models of the W212 E-Class generation are W204 C-Class based and known as the C207 and A207, replacing the CLK-Class (C209 and A209) coupé and cabriolet. Production: March 2009 – January 2016 (sedan), December 2009 – May 2016 (station wagon).
yeah, rear is the weakpoint with every E-model. Nonetheless I like it, cool idea air-cap, but wonder how it will translate in fuellconsumption, the big issue today.

Oh no...

The ponton hump doesn't work well in this pic...I need to see bigger pics but so far this is not looking good...

Give it bigger rims and make it black and it will look fine. That car automatically looks bad in that color.

Looking great. Love the Coupé much more and the C209 convertible looked much better as well…but not to bad at all.

I love that rear in that last pic really like the lights especially when they on.the car looks very nice i had a convertible clk 500 i was hoping for a hard top unfortunately MB chose a soft top.

Oh my God...

There you go. Mercedes ugliest car in years!

THe A5/S5 and 3er have absolutely nothing to worry about. Wow, talk about FAIL!

Mercedes-Benz AirCap calms convertible winds

Mercedes-Benz will introduce a new feature on its 2011 E-Class Cabriolet that alters the air flow coming over the windshield to tame turbulent winds at high speeds. Called AirCap, the system deploys a small wing at the top of the windshield that moves the arc of the air flow higher and longer to pass it over rear seat passengers while reducing the disruptive wind in the cabin area.

The wing raises six centimeters from the windshield header at the touch of a button and works in collaboration with the rear headrests and a windscreen between them that move between three different heights. AirCap can be used up to the E-Class’s top speed, but must be deployed before the vehicle hits 100 mph.

We experienced AirCap in a wind tunnel at simulated driving from 50 to 85 mph and can confidently say there’s a noticeable difference in wind turbulence for tall people in the rear seat. Most noticeable at the higher speeds, the AirCap shifts buffeting winds from your eyes and forehead to the back of your head, making highway-speed, top-down driving much more tolerable. From the front seat, the change with AirCap is much less noticeable. Of course, to enjoy the benefit of calmer air, you also have to drive with the side windows up.

Mercedes filed 20 patents in the process of designing AirCap, which has 211 parts and adds roughly 3.3 pounds to the weight of the car. When asked if the company had plans to introduce the feature on the rest of its convertible lineup, German engineers gave a telling coy, noncommittal answer that almost certainly means “yes.”

The AirCap—along with the AirScarf that blows warm air on the necks of front seat passengers—will be standard on all U.S. E-Class Cabrios when they go on sale in May.

Not bad IMO, and it will defintely look better in U.S. 550 trim with the AMG stuff. This is might just be the "E-Class" to have because the sedan sure isn't.

I actually think this looks not bad compared to the sedan. I've seen some coupes on the road and it makes way more sense than the sedan. Yes I still think the face is unnecessarily angry but afterall coupe is supposed to be sportier so it's no where near as bad as the sedan, and it doesn't carry the boxy shape of the sedan either which means the whole car makes a whole lot more sense. As for the rear lights obviously they couldn't dream up something different... i don't know but this set of rear lights still suit this car more than the sedan's one.

Mercedes the masters off inovation as allways...

But how much Convertible is it with all these new features. Well…it's more like a Coupé without the roof but you will feel nothing…no Cabrio feeling at all. A bit sad, in my opinion. Probably you can do 220 km/h with this car without wreck your hair style. :eusa_doh: It is a fast cruiser though - but definitely not as appealing as the older Convertibles:

C209

C208

and C124

Would drive them all…the C209 is my favourite Convertible in the CLK range though!

Funny thing is that MB bring something new with a non important modell like this..

While other brands release their bread and butter modells or flagships with no noticeable new tech..

I'm sure there's an off switch.:D
