Comparison tests Official Comparison Thread: New A4 vs E90 3er vs W204 C-Class

Only attractive I find is the front but only with sportpackage, the rest of the car isnt as fresh.

*Yawn*

Well that's not surprising coming from you since you neither like the CL, CLS or S-Class and have said negative things about every single one of those cars. For example that the CLS is ugly, you prefer the A8 over the S-clas and you've also said that the CL looks boring and is overrated so your comments about the C-class are pretty much expected.

MB-basher number one.:dazed053:

Sorry Luw, but now you are rude.
I happen to think SL look better than any BMW. I like the CL with AMG kit but not without it.. You are also true about CLS but I happen to find rest of the MB models good-looking (except R-class). I like the new C-class a lot but in Avantgarde trim but the rest of the car isnt as fresh as the front but it doesnt mean its an ugly car, it means it not as hot as the front.

Im not more of MB basher than you are BMW basher. So its even out then. :dazed053:

Interior:
1. B8 A4

2. W204
3. E90

Exterior:
1. W204
2. B8

3. E90

E90 needs facelift ASAP, dated doesn't even describe it.

An Avantgarde C-class for me please, the A4 is nice but doesn't look as fresh and new as the C and the 3 needs a FL ASAP indeed!

Ufffff ...

Yes, B8 A4 looks very nice. Boring? Quite. Aggressive? Quite. Premium factor? Quite.

Front: facelifted B7 with A5 touch
Side: facelifted B7
Rear: almost A5 copy/paste

The biggest problem: too similar to other Audi models. Not special at all. A5 tail lights design spreading across model line (A3 cabrio, A6 FL?) is a bit excessive move. But I'm sure the car will be commercially very successful.

Interior: A5 copy/paste - not a fan of Audi interior designs. Very posh & excellent fit & finish, but very cold & boring. Not my taste.

C-class: I do not like the interior design at all. In Classic variant looks like baby S-class (a bit too conservative), while Avantgarde variant looks very nice & sporty. I'm still surprised about very compact appearence of the car.

3er: still the freshest and most modern design inside & outside. Aggressive fascia & proportions. But the exterior design lacks that premium factor A4 & C-class posses. It was the same case with E46. E92 has much better premium factor, but E90 lacks it a bit. That can be fixed with FL if wanted. Btw, I do not see 3er being dated. Especially when seen IRL. But like I said: it lack premium factor & presence. A4 & C-class perform better in this category.

My 2 cents.

My reactions are mostly based upon these press photos as I have yet to see the C-Class, nor the A4 (obviously) in the flesh.

Front End:

The 3er is the one I'll exclude as it's one I have still yet to adjust to; It's all a little too busy in my opinion. Prefer the cleaner and perhaps more simplistic approach of styling which the MB and Audi offer. That being said, I'll go with the Mercedes.

Rear:

Definitely not the 3er as I've always hated those tail lamps. Always thought the C-Class was a bit truncated towards the rear - that's not to say I don't like it though.. The A4 though, I haven't got any real concerns with.

Interior:

Still am not impressed with the C-Class interior, although as I said above, I haven't seen one in the flesh. Perhaps when I get the chance to see one I'll feel different, but until then my favourite in this class is the A4 followed by the 3er.

Overall:

MB please. :usa7uh:

Even though I feel slightly underwhelmed by the new A4, it would still be my choice. I like the C, but there are some aspects regarding the design which still make the Audi my number 1 - its design retains the quality which (still) simply seems 'right' in my eyes. The E90 I've never liked.

Well I never thought I would say this, but overall, judging by pictures of the A4 only, I would go for the Mercedes. Followed by A4 then 3er.

The E90 was a huge disappointment for me- all I could think when I first saw it was "how could they change the best looking sedan ever (E46) into this boring lump of car".

The C-class was a huge surprise to me. I liked it as soon as I saw it. Fresh new design for Mercedes, and it works really really well.

The problem with the A4 was that I didnt have any strong response when I saw the pics today. It looks nice, don't get me wrong, but I need to reserve my complete judgement till I actually see it. In my experience, Audi's always look so much more sleek and aggressive in the real. One thing I can say without doubt is that the A4 has the best interior. It's an Audi after all.

Imma post the worst E90 pic i can find..
and then the worst C class pic..

and then the other way around..

only offical pics now.. (no AMG or M)

maybe this will aid some..:D

Ohh and my choice..

lol..
well the pics above just leaves me with one choice..
and its really hard for me to understand why not everyone else agrees with me..
haha

just joking.. MB ofcourse..

PS
The A4 is waaay to boring.. looks dated before release..
The 3er needs a FL..
The C is supa fresh..
Simple.. :D

Interesting.

It's the opposite with me. I fine Audi cars even more uninspiring IRL than in pics. Audi cars look very upscale with clean design & perfect fit & finish - and their presence derives from these sources, but the overall design is screaming: "I'm so not special."

MB cars look more interesting IRL.

While BMW cars are definitely not photogenic, but looks quite amazing IRL. IMO!

:t-hands:

But I admit E90 lacks some presence & premium factor. So, who wants to show the world he / she drives a premium & expensive car I'm sure A4 & C.class are perhaps better choice than BMW 3er E90.

We all like to post pics to prove a point but face it, its pointless. People on this board has already decided what they think and what car they are going to prefer. Also most members on this board has already seen what E90 and C-class looks like in real life so they have already decided.

Posting pics is fun but pointless becuase it wont change anyones opinion ;)

Exterior
1.A4
1.C class (tie)
3.3 series

Interior
1.A4
2.3 series
3.C class

So overall A4 wins.

Fo those that think that A4 is not good enough i will remind you that you were saying the same about A5 and now you are all drooling.:D

I still don't. :D Really.
I find the A5 design appealing, but not so special to drool. Same case with A4 B8. It's just "OK".

I forgot to say that C63 AMG looks like a boy racer or something. The body kit is too extreme and bad taste IMO.:D

I would say Audi are now at the period where BMW was before Radical change occurred. Late nineties the advent of the E46 sedan before the end of an era with the Radical Z9 Concept Car and before the birth and turbulence that followed uneccessary of the E65 7er.

Now at this period they have the individual cars TT, Q7 and R8 and now there is the Sausage in 3 different lengths ie E46,E39 and E38 now repeating A4,A6 and A8.
Although Audi design is fluent they are still going to be criticized for how tame and staid the A4 looks.
I wonder if the next A8 will be a radical car similar in design reaction to the BMW E65?
