Chiron [Official] Bugatti Chiron

The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car designed and developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH. It was manufactured in Molsheim, France, by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.. The successor to the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016.
Old post to reply to, I know. But I believe you've read the numbers on that infamous Bolide presentation instagram leak the wrong way.

It is hard to see, but IMO it says 2,809 kg at Vmax, split 34% / 66% between front and rear, 966 kg / 1,843 kg.

Which is about 1,216 kg @ 250 kph.

Bugatti themselves claim "nearly three tons of downforce" in one of their press releases, so it checks out.

Bugatti have said alot of things.

Absolutely. But this revised number is at least more believable than the original fantastic claim or 2,631 kg @ 320 kph (1,606 kg @ 250 kph) from when the car was just a concept.

Of course, even the instagram leak number is likely cherry picked and it's only achieved by adjusting the rear wing to a ridiculous angle of attack, which is indicated by that lopsided aero balance.

If we were to assume Chiron's weight balance as a guideline for the ideal aero balance, using the 44:56 split... to say the front axle downforce is maxed out already...
It would give us 966 kg front / 1,229 kg rear for a total of 2,195 kg @ 380 kph.

Which is only about 950 kg @ 250 kph. Much more realistic scenario, but doesn't look that cool in magazine headlines :p

I see. I also think the downforce of the Bugatti Bolide has been exaggerated, otherwise the maximum lateral acceleration would not be only 2.5G. So what do you think Bolide's lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife is approximately?

Lateral acceleration is another one of those stats which doesn't tell you much, unless it's overlaid on an onboard video and you can match it with GPS speed.

As far as Nordschleife lap... It's hard to tell, since there's no existing laptime of a similar car, which we could use as a reference.
In terms of cornering grip, it's bellow GT3 race car level (if we use the most conservative downforce estimate with more sensible aero balance). But its power-to-weight ratio so far exceeds any other car, there's no telling what it could do on those straight-ish sections of the track.

AMG One did 6:35 with possibly more weight, significantly less power and way less aero on semi slicks.
So I have to say Bolide would be substantially faster. Maybe 6:10?
Although AMG also uses insanely trick suspension setup, which helps it a lot, especially on a track like Nordschleife. Bugatti uses more conventional setup.

That said, you'll probably never get to see them do it (at least not anywhere close to the car's limits).
I doubt Bugatti would risk possibly bottoming out in a compression somewhere or catching a kerbstone at those speeds and launching off the track.

thank you for the explanation. I would also like to ask you to predict the lap time of Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro at the Nürburgring.

I'd say probably somewhere around 6:00 m mark. But I'm just guessing.

BTW, I just realized Bugatti had a simulated Nordschleife lap time on that leaked Bolide presentation screen.
It was "< 6:15.00"
Now the question is, if they got to that number using the same kind of software F1 teams use, or they just had a car model done for Assetto Corsa and drove it themselves :D

On a second thought, let me revise my Bolide guess. I think 6:20 is more realistic.

Haha, the simulation software used by Bugatti is certainly not Assetto Corsa. Bugatti said in a press release that they used Dallara's simulators. Simulations were carried out on renowned circuits around the world, supporting Bugatti engineers to calibrate the Bolide as close as possible to its physical limits.

I can only confirm that rumor about Chiron successor. That guy that works for Rimac today showed me a dyno test video of that V16 cosworth engine so i guess that is happening :eek:It revs above 9000rpm and sounds absolutely insane!
Naturaly aspirated ICE develops over 1000hp. In combination with Rimac sourced electric motors, total output will be slightly above 2000hp.
With weight of around 1900kg it will outperform Nevera and everything else currenty on the market.
I have heard some additional information about interior. There will be analog gauges (i guess speedometar) and retractable screens.
Apparently we will see that hybrid monster as early as next year and it will shock the world!

Next Rimac product will be Nevera cabrio, but hardcore non street legal Nevera got axed due to unknown reasons. There is one prototype of that hardcore Nevera model with weight shredded to only 1600kg but it will never see production.
They already started development of Nevera successor, C3, but it is in very early stages.
The latest news I learned is that the V16 engine that will be used in the Bugatti Chiron successor model will be manufactured by Cosworth, but the technology comes from Rimac. Because Rimac's factory cannot produce internal combustion engines, it will be manufactured by Cosworth.

Mate Rimac posted on Instagram yesterday that they showed the car at their World Partner Meeting in their Berlin office, what’s interesting is they had two cars under the sheets. Are there to versions of the same car a la the Zenvo Aurora or it’s simple two different specs.

Yes, those are two different cars. Except for the successor model of Chiron, the other one should be the car in the picture. I really have never seen such a special design. Am looking forward to!

Can’t wait! Hope they tease something by New Years, to me this and the Ferrari F167 (812 successor) are going to be the highlights of 2024.

Hoping for something that will surprise us all.

Agree! Chiron Successor and 812 Successor will bé a Epic year!

Don't have infos on F167 but Chiron Successor trust me it's something insane.

Expect a teaser next month.

Nick and Achiem are designing it in the main so we will see. But recently I've gone off hybrids.

If anyone can restore faith and that's in others too it's Bugatti.

Naturally aspirated hybrid? Definitely.

But I'm not searching out information on this one, I'll let you and the others do it, I'll watch on, just because.😉
