Chiron [Official] Bugatti Chiron

The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car designed and developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH. It was manufactured in Molsheim, France, by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.. The successor to the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016.
V16 is gone forever after Mistral and Chiron Profilé, Bugatti themselves state so. "The final road going model with the iconic V16 engine."

No. The W16'S are gone definitely.

The rumored replacement is V16. A V12 would do but Bugatti clients insist on UNIQUE. It's what separates them. Peich set the status and standards.

11,000hp (top fuel)
0-500kph >4 seconds (top fuel)
8< Gs of cornering (RB X2010)
8Gs of braking (RB X2010)
700< kph top speed (streamliner)

literally apex of everything :p
Reminds me of that Devel thing that was promised to do insane things but never made.

According to @Jonathan19 we’re getting a teaser this month, so let’s see what they show us!

The displacement of the V16 naturally aspirated engine of the Bugatti Chiron successor is 8.3L. Don’t ask me how I know this, but this is accurate information. And it will be equipped with 3 motors and accelerate faster than Nevera. If you have any new information, please share it, thank you.

So essentially a 6.2L V12 and a 2.0L V4 on a common crank 😄
Does it mean this Bugatti will sound a bit like Ferrari F12?

Let's say there was zero effort in developing Rimac's current electric motor technology... If we take the two front engines from Nevera and one extra MGU-K in the back of equal output (3 x 318 = 954 PS), that leaves us with 1,071 PS for the V16.
That's counting with the earlier claim that the total combined power output number is the same as the year of production. So, 2025?

If the displacement is really 8.3 L, that gives us specific output of 129 PS per liter.
Here's some NA supercars for context: T.50 =168, Valkyrie = 156, T.33 = 154, 992 RS = 131

Bare in mind, this gives us the worst case scenario. The motors probably will be improved upon.
It's good to know the owners won't have to deal with short service intervals.

Perhaps they’re saving it for New Years, as a tesser for 2024? Either way, excited to see what’s coming.

Exactly. I'm not fussed about no teasers. The way Mclaren dragged it out was at times unbearable!

To be honest full technical specifications plus pictures and reveal. Least for us.

They can keep partial headlights shots, like others perhaps did LOL!

My, how times change.

I was thinking about the layout of the drivetrain for the new Bugatti and which solution is most likely to be used. Will they keep the transmission in the center tunnel? But then, where to put batteries if not in the center tunnel? Will the wheelbase look impossibly long with a V16 and transverse gearbox in the back?

So I cranked up the photoshop, took the silhouette from the official teaser and overlaid on top of it a wireframe of Chiron and schematics of Revuelto's drivertrain (which I think could be very similar layout of a car). I then extended the V12 to substitute for the rumored V16 engine and shifted it back, to start at the same point relative to the cabin as where the V12 is.

Second picture (LWB) hides the internals and the chiron wireframe to give clearer picture of the rough wheelbase estimate needed to accommodate the V16 with transverse gearbox in the back.

Bottom picture (SWB) is Chiron's wheelbase (W16 with gearbox between the seats).

IMO, the LWB looks about right. The proportions will be different to what we're used to now, but it's gonna be fine, I think.

Yeah, the silhouette is definitely long enough to contain a V16.

I think the power output should be even more than 1070PS. If 2000PS system power was the target/requirement to meet performance benchmarks, then getting 930PS out of the small battery would be quite the task. It's the battery, more than the motors, which is the limiting factor on these hybrid supercars. The current best power densities are around 5PS/kg, which would result in a roughly 200kg battery in the best case scenario. That's probably too big! For comparison, the battery in the SF90 is 72kg and that is good for only 220PS.

If the engine is 8.3L as claimed, and if the peak power comes at 9000RPM, then that would already put you at roughly 1100PS with relatively conservative Nm/L and powerband. However, if they were able to make it rev even higher, then at 10000RPM, it would be already 1235PS. Which I think it should be, since there should be some gap between this and the 1000PS Valkyrie V12.

Good points. I wasn't even thinking about the battery there. 1,235 PS would be pretty sweet and it is the more likely scenario, I agree.
there should be some gap between this and the 1000PS Valkyrie V12.
It would also be a huge flex on Ferrari's next halo car, which I doubt will get over 1,200 PS combined with the hybrid. Bugatti would be smashing that on NA ICE power alone, making Maranello bros seethe over ever dropping V12 in favor of V6 TT due to a tenuous WEC connection, which nobody cares about anyway 😁

I wonder how AMG One manages to feed 489 PS from their 8.4 kWh battery... They must have really good regen. If the new Bugatti was on the same level, they'd only need about 12 kWh to cover the 3x 264 PS motors.
I guess at that point they might need to put more batteries in the space bellow passengers' feet, just like the AMG, on top of the central tunnel being filled to the brim.

I'm curious about the weight of the thing. I doubt Bugatti owners will care about ±100 kg over Chiron. It should easily be lighter than Nevera, at the very least.

Chiron's engine is said to be 436 kg. If we extrapolate Cosworth RA on to 8.3, it's 250 kg for the V16. Minus 150 kg for the battery pack... it leaves 36 kg to fill to be even. Call that a space for invertors (IDK how much those really weigh). Add 75 kg of motors and we're at 2,100 kg. There's still Chiron's AWD bits in there, so toss that out... back at 2 tons?

LOL! Interesting, looks like he's following us or been told!

A few days ago I said that the Bugatti Chiron successor will be equipped with a V16 engine with a displacement of 8.3L and three motors. But I want to apologize, I can't guarantee that this is accurate information. Because I asked two people related to Bugatti and they gave me different answers, now I am beginning to doubt the accuracy of the information I got before. Yesterday I was told that the total power of the Chiron successor model is lower than 2026 horses, but more than 1600 horses. I saw an article on www.thesupercarblog.com saying it might be 1,800 horsepower. If this is really the case and the car weighs 1900kg, then I will be a little disappointed that the thrust-to-weight ratio is not that great. Considering that the Koenigsegg Gemera can output 2,300 horsepower with a weight of 2,070kg, especially the 40kg motor that can output 800 horsepower, I hope that the successor to the Bugatti Chiron will be even better.
