X5 [Official] BMW X5 (G05)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
Sounds like the M850i so this is probably the X5 M50i. This new iteration of the 4.4L sounds great.

Certainly does. Although the fundamental engine is a decade old.

Although the fundamental engine is a decade old.

What is fundamental? If you mean the basic block then sure, but lots of other 'fundamental' parts are all-new.
The question is when to call an engine a new engine when so much on it has been reworked. Sure the basic block is the same as the old V8, but that usually is the case with the I6 engines as well, and we never call those old.

Aslo, I am starting to get sick and tired of this white X5 everywhere. White is probably one of the worst colors to put on this car (yet it still manages to look kick-a$$).
Even more sick and tired of all those Russian YT vids. Why is half on YT in Russian for this car? Did they get it early?

Did BMW drop B&O / B&W? I only see Harman Kardon in the configurator.

BMW's configurator is more and more starting to become a visualiser only, with limited options, limited colors and overall less fun. They should throw n everything possible, including BMW Individual and the whole 9 yards.
But either way, no, I don't even see B&W in the 8er configurator. Only Harman Kardon.

It's coming. Optional.

Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, 10 channels, 1,508W, 20 speakers etc.

It's already listed in the official price list. Code 6F1. ... Coming in December 2018. German price: €5,500 (incl. VAT).

Btw, 8er is getting it too. In November 2018. Price in Germany (incl. VAT): €5,650. Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, 10 channels, 1,400W, 16 speakers.

How does 1500W compare to what others have @EnI ?

It sounds great (sorry for the pun) on paper, but why would anyone right now even consider ordering an expensive 8er if the high end sound system is not available yet?

Which parts are “fundamentally” new?

I enjoy needless pedantry over engine bits as much as the next guy... no.. I really do... But this debate is pointless, at very least until the public ETK gets updated with the G05... and also because you'll both move the goal posts over what fundamental really means.

FWIW - the crank shaft is most likely to be the oldest component (possible 2010 manufacturing introduction). The cam shafts, cylinder block, head and pistons are most likely the same as those that have been used since the introduction of the Gxx generation cars (i.e. 2014 manufacturing introduction), although the con rods are also possibly going to be circa 2010.

You can order it @ dealerships, and you can get it delivered in November with B&W hi-end hi-fi on board (if there's not too long waiting list ... in some with small allocations already is).

Fair enough

AMG GT:

Burmester High-End Surround-Sound system has a 1,000 watt amplifier which drives a total of 11 loudspeakers.

S Maybach:

Burmester High-End 3D-Surround-Sound system has 27 high-performance loudspeakers and 24 discrete amplifier channels with an overall output power of 1,590 watts.

Panamera:

With 21 loudspeakers and 1,455 watts of total output power, Burmester.

Audi:

BANG & OLUFSEN 3D advanced sound system. Up to 1920 Watt of amplification power, and up to 23 fully active loudspeakers.

FWIW - the crank shaft is most likely to be the oldest component

Or not because they increased torque quite a bit.... ;)

Sound systems are difficult, near impossible, to judge on paper. You have to listen to them in person with your music.

Does look good in black.

Interesting point from someone on the other site about BMW having a unique problem on their hands , creating a very large grill opening adequate for the engine's cooling needs but retain the kidney design. As you can see below all it’s competitors have large grills and can sort of get away with it.

^ I think BMW's grille and MB's grille on GLE and X5 are perfectly in proportion to the front.
That Lexus looks absolutely horrible, and the Q7 looks like it already needs a major facelift.

Fair enough, I agree. But on paper at least, the system is average compared to some of the others. Audi's system looks most impressive spec wise and on paper.

The same counts for an engine btw. It might look awesome on paper but BMW's I6 will still be better :D

It was used in the F10, and is still used in the F90... I don't think torque is an issue to be honest.

If it's used in the F90 then no, of course not :D
But if it's good enough for the F90 it sure is good enough for the new '5.0'

I agree. Also on the I6 :). One of the best sound systems I remember was the first gen Audi Q7 B&O even though B&O is usually not the cream of the crop.
