X1 [Official] BMW X1 (F48)

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman.
Don't they use the old 6 speed steptronic in the X1 because it's basically a Mini?

Good riddance, if so. A DCT sounds pretty interesting, but @martinbo will not be pleased.

And as for the multi media, I suppose they get the same one as found in the 7er, 5er, X3, etc

For the small engines it's a 6 speed, as from the 18d they use the 8 speed.

There is no need for X1 to go DCT even though, @klier, it would be less of an issue for me given X1's distinctly less multi-purpose credentials compared with, say, an X3.

A Mini Cooper S Works with DCT sounds fantastic!!!

There seem to be a lot of complaints about road noise and noisy diesel engines from this car. Maybe BMW should fix that first.

So i went scratching around on the BMW X1 configurator and spotted that there are indeed a few models available with DCT as well as a new gear lever. I will try and upload a pic.

Any idea whose the maker of these new dual clutch for BMW? Apparently the DCT boxes in the GLA and Q3 aren't the best implementation , hope the X1 does a better job.

Double clutches for run-of-the-mill urban cars - I dunno - I just have an aversion. Seen too many broken and clunky DSGs in my lifetime.
