Yes, you are right....my mistake...This is the X1 - Zinoro has different front and rear lights and different rear window shape. This X1 matches the semi-disguised pictures before.
May I ask, does the car have to be a SUV? Is the 3 series Touring too small for your requirement?I am in the market for a new car, an SUV to be precise, and test drove an automatic X1 xDrive20d xline this weekend.
Despite my preconceived notions about it being a cheap car, it made a big impression on me. It's brilliantly fun to drive. The steering is very direct and the suspension firm. Pushing it through roundabouts and twisty corners understeer is not evident. It feels smaller than it is, like a larger 1 series.
Its best trick though is the interior space. The boot is big and the space under the boot floor is massive. Most impressively the rear bench slides forward and the rear seats can be reclined or in an upright position which is very Maybach-esque.
As a family SUV it beats the X3 and X5 on usability and flexibility of space.
However my other half can't stand the look of the shifter and the center console feels a bit cheaper. More importantly the X5 offers better visibility and a more relaxing drive. We will test drive the X3 on Wednesday.

Nope. It behaves like a 3 series sedan and is very easy to drive with confidence. During the test drive I occasionally had to remind myself that it's an SUV. It doesn't feel meaty or heavy like the X5.
I am expecting a baby in June and the X1 sitting a bit higher than a 3er Touring makes it easier to load a baby. The doors are big and flexibility of the boot makes it more practical for loading a pram, luggage and other bits.
There are no doubts in my mind that the next 1 series will be FWD. After my experience with the X1 I am less sceptical about FWD as it will be fun enough for most. However the car I drove was AWD which and has torque vectoring which is a big distinction.
Congrats mate! , seems like everyone I know is having a baby, even those on a car forum. Maybe I should have a look at the X1.
Congrats on the baby, Luw!
3er time has been short, huh?
Yea, the same counts for my sister. She now has three kids and it's impossible to keep driving a BMW. Simply not enough space for kids chairs, buggys and whatever else.Judgement day came when we drove went to a store to test whether the buggy we wanted, Stokke Xplory, fits in the boot.
It didn't fit longitudinally but just about did so transversely with little space for much else unless you are master at Tetris.
I am sure Scott will try to sell you one of those 2 series van. Actually why didn't anyone consider thoseYea, the same counts for my sister. She now has three kids and it's impossible to keep driving a BMW. Simply not enough space for kids chairs, buggys and whatever else.

My father is getting his X1 in August. M-package, automatic gearbox, LED-lights, Xdrive etc etc. Loaded with lots of stuff that I dont have the time to write here. He was thinking about X3 but he decided to replace his old X1 with the new generation.
I'm a little surprised he went with M-package. He usually dont like it.
Thanks! It's easy to overlook the X1 because it's an entry level model but I told myself to be objective and give it a try. I was delighted but as I said I might go for the X3 for a more cushioned ride, slightly higher sitting position and better interior interior design.
I also test drove the Mercedes GLC and found it to be a fantastic car with no shortcomings. The powertrain 220 CDI and 9-speed gearbox is better than what BMW offers, but I didn't fall it love with it. There was magic missing. I'm happy to get the same level of equipment I have in the 3er but in a larger BMW.
Thanks! Yes, disappointingly time. When we bought it, we thought it would be good for family stork and donkey duties.

My 1998 Celica which was a hatchback hauled anything I threw at it and never failed me once. The 3er on the other hand, had a big boot lip and quite a recline of the rear bench which eats into the length of the boot.
YesDid he mind it was FWD based compared to his predecessor?
