X1 [Official] BMW X1 (F48)

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman.
The DCT is cheaper than the old Automatic transmission. Nice. Superior tech and cheaper at the same time.

Superior tech for performance, inferior tech for reliability. I would shit myself if BMW put a dual-clutcher in a 3er. Bye bye - I'd be off to 9G-Tronic.

It's not going to happen, the CLAR cars keep the 8 speed I suppose.

And really, Getrag is triple A.

"Getrag will be the one supplying the DCT for BMW, which replaces the Aisin-sourced automatics previously used. Although, Getrag will only be supplying BMW with transverse-engine vehicles, while longitudinal-engine vehicles, such as all rear-wheel drive-based BMWs, will continue to use ZF-sourced transmissions."

BMW to add Seven-Speed Dual-Clutch transmission to UKL models

Any idea why the Aisin sourced boxes were replaced so quickly? Reviews were very positive, unless the Getrag boxes are cheaper.

Most probably it will be the same 6DCT450 transmission that Getrag supplies to Ford Europe (it is used mainly in their van models). This models already share their manual Getrag transmissions with the FWD BMWs and MINIs

"All model variants of the BMW 3 Series Sedan and Touring will in future come with
LED headlights
and light alloy wheels as standard equipment".

I'll believe it when I see it.

Well, they wouldn't put it in a press release if it wasn't true.

That's strange, as the X3 which was just launched comes with the halogens standard right?

I very much doubt it. As Scott pointed out, fleet vehicles and business purchases will probably opt for the cheaper versions, so there's still a market for these .

What are you doubting? That's an official press release from BMW!! :banghead:

In many European markets only base & Advantage models come with partial-LED lights: LED for daytime running lights (without coronas) and low beam; halogen for high beam & turn signal. And it also feature plain "2D" full-halogen taillights.

xLine, Luxury Line and M Sport (in Germany: +€5.2k to +€7.5k) come with standard non-adaptive LED headlights: LED for DtRL (round LED coronas), LED high & low bean, but halogen for the blinker located in the outer corner of the cluster. All three Lines also feature standard full-LED 3D taillights, and ambient interior lighting.

Adaptive full-LED headlights (with hexagonal coronas & LED blinker in the eyebrow) are optional (in Germany: +€340 for the Line models), and also come with 3D full-LED taillights & ambient interior lighting. Sensatec "leatherette" dash with decorative stitching is standard in the all three Line models.

Mind many non-European markets will only get the Lines models, with no base model available at all. So, non-adaptive LEDs & 3D full-LED taillights will be on board there.

The new X1 and Tiguan are really good looking vehiclesin the metal pictures don't do them any justice. Great entry level SUVs can't get enough of them. Can't wait to see what BMW doeswith the new X5/6/7. They are on a roll.
