M3/M4 [Official] BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

I seen quite a few now. What strikes me most is how big it is. Makes the weight even more remarkable.

Lightweight BMW M4 GTS spied?

A mysterious BMW M4 Coupe has been spied on the Nürburgring.

While the car is wearing MotoGP safety car stickers, our spy photographer believes the model is actually a lightweight version of the M4 Coupe. Nothing is official but the car does appear different than the current MotoGP safety car.

The changes are relatively minor but include a bigger front spoiler and a fixed rear wing. The prototype also features Recaro seats but those could simply be for testing purposes.

BMW has downplayed the possibility of an M4 CSL but rumors have suggested they will offer an M4 GTS in 2016. That particular model is slated to feature additional carbon fiber and aluminum components which could enable it to tip the scales at less than 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs). The car is also rumored to have a sportier suspension and a stripped out interior with lightweight racing seats.

I've just got back from the Nurburgring and I saw this car pounding the circuit all day. It was one of the quickest cars out there. The exhaust seemed louder than normal too. In fact, I believe these photos were taken this morning as I saw that Range Rover in front of it too. I know the roundabout this was taken from and I saw two photographers there at lunch time.

I would have paid more attention to the car if I new it was an M4 GTS!!

But did it sound better?

M4 sounds fantastic full throttle on the Ring. Indeed t does.

Now bring on that M4 GTS. Give it 100 hp extra and make it weigh 100 kg less. Thanks a lot.

Lol Klier, why not 200HP/200kilos? The car is already making ~470 HP according to most dynos. I don't think it needs anymore. Weight is interesting. There is some easy gains to be made - bucket seats, stripped out inside, thinner glass surfaces, CF hood maybe. Beyond that it is going to be difficult and expensive. The car is already light for it's size. Think about it, despite being a proper 2+2/4 seater based on bog 3er, M3/4 is as light/lighter than the AMG GT - a much more expensive dedicated 2 seater sports car.

Not impressed with the exhaust note.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
