M2 [Official] BMW M2 Competition

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M
Too much need to show off his drifting skills with Harris. But he is not the only one these days since it is so easy to drift new cars....

Bloody epic. No other way to think of a car that brings all this to the market at this price point. Kudos, BMW. In such a saturated market, with nearly every niche plugged - it's incredible to think that the M2 has no direct comparator.

Is it wrong that I feel sorry for people who went and bought the initial M2? If it was me and I parted with that amount for the earlier M2 only to be left with a car less special than the car replacing it, then I'd be pretty miffed.
Unlike the Competition editions on other M cars where the Competition supplements as opposed to supplants the lesser model, the original M2 stands out as the car that didn't get the full-fat M powertrain.

No not wrong at all and I gratefully except your sympathy.

What grates me the most is how much they changed the car. New front end, I mean WTF? I get they had to change air flow but what a kick in the teeth. The M2 is on it's 4th facelift and still 2-3 years to go.

Then there's the engine, new dials? really. Then M1/M2 buttons, being able to configure more settings, i.e. DCT switch,

And final changes, seats and mirrors. Yeah very miffed.

However, M2 is still a great car and I've had mine 11 months. Couldn't wait, I knew Comp was coming. So I've had 13k miles of great drives including the Summer, M2C would have been picked up Autumn/Winter. Not the best time for a rear drive performance car!

Finally there's pricing. There's no doubt it's a better car, I drove the M2C a second time last week, for a good 30 minutes this time. And given I got a good discount on mine and they've only just started offering good discounts on the M2C and even pre-registering here in the UK to meet sales targets, it would still be a big difference in cost.

If it wasn't such a high cost to change, I'd be driving an M2C now, the exhaust note is not enough to put me off.

I do sometimes wish I'd held off, kept my M135i another year or two and kept my deposit down for the M2 CS. Not sure I'll make the switch now, think 3 Fxx gen cars would be too much.

One upside however, is I have the best colour :) And, (for now anyway) M2C doesn't have it!
Car looks fantastic and you have the better exhaust note. The M2C is great, but so is your car, I’m envious.

I must say I prefer the M2 wheels over the M2C’s but with your paint job those wheels actually work quite well!

Yes, they're certainly Marmite. Wasn't sure myself until I saw them in the flesh. Then knew I had to have them. Haven't been a fan of the stock 437M since the F80 M3 came out.

I like Mat and I like carwow reviews , but their drag races are always queationable. I don’t get why they can’t put the cars in their sportiest modes and flooring them instead of locking them in 3rd gear.

Is this your car? Looks lovely.

Also, is that Tesco Brooklands? Looks very much like it. My UK home is just down the road and this is where my fiance and I shop.

Yes indeed it is. We’re 10 minutes away and it’s our closest one!

Had it in my mind you were from up North.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
