3 Series (F30) [Official] BMW F30 3-Series LCI [2015-2019]

The BMW F30 is the sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: F30 (sedan), F31 (wagon/,touring), F34 (fastback/gran turismo), and F35 (long-wheelbase). For this generation, coupé/convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series. Predecessor: BMW E90. Successors: G20 3 Series, and G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: 2011–2018.
When the modern line was introduced we thought it would be a"Scandanavian" alternative what with bright colours and intricate wood grain trims.
Unfortunately both the Sport Line and Luxury Line outsold Modern Line.
And it was discontinued.

I liked the (fake) wood with that extreme texture. Would never choose it myself but it was nice.

I'm curious if split rear folding seats are still a £225 option. It's a disgrace for such a premium car not to have that as standard. Surely that would have been cheaper for BMW than manufacturing two different rear benches.

Paying for extras is at the core of the automotive business model.

Yeah @deity, my post was really funny.

I have an F30 which I use for business travel primarily. I am aware of the interior imperfections. They seldom make themselves known or detract from a satisfactory ownership experience. For the rest of it - the structural integrity, quality of materials, overall perception of solidity remains. I can't fathom what your problem is with me and my F30.

It just seems contradicting that there's a lack of tightness (low perception of solidity) in the dashboard and poor transmission tunnel plastics (low quality of materials) and yet the interior still managers to exude everything you say it doesn't. I was just truly interested in what pieces of the interior (read: examples) you found high quality and structurally solid.

I love the F30 as a vehicle and as a package but the interior is IMO the weakest link of an otherwise (almost) perfect package.

There's only a few parts that's not high quality, and I am sure you know where those are by now. Might be easier to just name those, or just say you don't like the way BMW is using plastic in parts that are fake alu in the W205.

Its a nice looking car and to be honest i dont get all the buzz about LED and the minor changes. All i'm interested about is the new engine. BMW could have made a much bigger impact if they had done some better job on the dashboard but i guess they are happy with it as it is. Personally i like how the screen (navigation etc) is integrated into the dashboard as in 5 series. Wish they had atleast done that.

I mean that the next 5er will have a free standing screen and all new BMW cars will have it.
The F10 5er really is the odd one out here, as the F01 is about to be replaced by G11, which also has a free standing screen.

The free standing screen reduces the mass of the dashboard, which can be lower when not wrapped around the screen (and the screen always sits on top, introduced by the E65 7er and followed by every other brand since).

No one noticed the new, bigger iDrive controller?

Don't really see the point in the 320d EDE. Only 0.1 l/100km less, yet such a large performance difference compared to the regular 320d. Oh well, guess it has its own meaning of life.

Otherwise, very nice fl. Minor to the outside, but not much was needed either IMO. Still the class leader IMO

Probably because we saw it on the 4 Series and other facelifted BMWs. Of course, it looks even better now.

EDE's role is probably to help lower the gas emissions on the whole range, and I imagine it has its purposes as a company car's choice.

Oh wasnt aware of that, i thought it would be the other way around. Most cars actually have it integrated now days. I think you get use to it after a while but still it looks more stylish when its integrated i think.

I think i'm able to finally put in a order for this car by the end of next week according to car dealer, was considering a 4 series but the cost difference is pretty big, i dont see any big difference to justify the cost really. If you think there is a major reason i would love to hear it.

The 3 Series is very nice. The 4er is downright sexy!
Seeing a 4er Gran Coupe with M Package instantly makes me want to trade in my E92.

If I am correct, they changed to the bigger I-drive controller as this larger one has a touch pad for writing letters and symbols.
