The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the F30 (sedan version), F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring'), and F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code F35) was sold in China. For this generation, the coupé and convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series nameplate. It was succeeded by the G20 3 Series, and the G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: October 2011 – October 2018
So then whats up with these amber lights in the headlights? I've noticed some LED cars have them, some don't.

Only a guess, but maybe they're US spec with the reflectors integrated? Unlikely, but the only explenation I can think of.

It's a reflection of sunny horizon. It can also be seen in other parts of the headlights and the bumper etc yet not as much as in the lower reflectors / mirrors. I guess they are positioned at such angle they caught the sun reflection and appeared completely amber. Because they are not. IRL those are silverish reflectors / mirrors.

So now are Xenons a thing of the past? I wish that Xenons were standard instead of halogens and LEDs the optional extra.

Ahhhh. I see what you mean. Nice catch.

Yes halogens are still the choice for simplicity especially when you can do the maintenance yourself and of course all important to the fleet markets.

The new technology that will forever be in progress is the adaption of OLED and LaserLight and in which the next phase of the Laser Light technology at BMW will be shown soon.
And of course like any new technology as it become familiar it becomes cost effective for application so we are now seeing it introduced on the new 7er as optional equipment and then it will be seen on the next 5er etc. And also the BMW M4 GTS.
we are coming to the phase that the LED lights will probably take the place of the Xenon light at BMW allowing OLED and Laser-Light to progress and flourish at the top scale.

I've just spent three days and 2,000km driving a 730d xDrive. I have quite a bit of experience with the 7 Series but it will probably be my last chance to drive the F01 and it certainly didn't feel in need of replacement. Loved it very much.
drove my 730d 333.333 kms until today :) and still love it and cant get enough of it, hope the new one is better :) everything below will be hard to accept

So are Xenons an option at all?

I guess for lower models halogen standard and LED optional, and for higher models LED standard, adaptive LED and eventually for G models Laser optional....

The interior changes are piano black plastic around the HVAC controls and in a part of the door, instead of the mate plastic it had before. The AC now had white graphics instead of orange.

Quite a standard LCI. The design had not aged too much so it makes sense.
The white changes to amber at dusk and at night automatically when the light sensor detects change in light.

^ Exactly - bomb the halogens, make the Xenons standard and optional LED for the vanity purchase.

But apparently the car needs a cheap option too, still. And while Xenon has been around for like 2 decades, it's still not exactly cheap.
