5 Series (G30) [Official] BMW 5-Series (G30)

The BMW G30 is the seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series. Body styles: (G30) (sedan), (G31) (wagon), (G38) (LWB sedan). Predecessor: 5 Series (F10). Successor: 5 Series (G60). Production: 2016-2023.
Not only do I not think it's the best "all round car" right now, I don't even think it's the best all round 5 Series. That would be the 530d IMHO.
Agreed the 530d is and IMO the pick of the bunch , but I was referring to all 5 series' optioned right they are best all round cars right now , not the M550i used the pic because it looks sublime.

The best all round car right now, it's beautiful too.

Hmm. I would say M550d would be the best option for exclusive performance, efficiency and course penalty tax exemption in some countries before the M550i. It's a reason why the M550d has a huge following in Europe.

I only have experience of the F10 M550d xDrive. Real world fuel consumption is pretty poor. It's expensive. And although it's fast, it's still a diesel and it doesn't reward pushing the car on. In the real world, an 530d does 95% of the job.

So what if it avoids tax? It's not an M5. I'd rather pay the tax and get the car I want.

Something's bugging me about the M550i and that's its apparent unavailability for all RHD markets. At a glance - it's not listed on the .com.au, .co.uk nor .co.za official sites.
Are we looking at a GLK scenario here? No RHD model due to mechanical constraints?

That would be fookin shoite!

Can it really be mechanical constraints? When the M760li and M5 will come with AWD in RHD?

Me thinks BMW have deemed the RHD market too small to introduce a M550i and M5, they'd rather have the smaller markets buy the more expensive M5.

Yes - I agree with you. Perhaps I should have worded it cost considerations i.e. simply not enough RHD volume to justify selling the RHD M550i variant.

Same reason BMW isn't making an M550i Touring; no Touring for the U.S, which means not enough potential sales.

As good as the M550i is I get the feeling that BMW really held it back for obvious reasons ...the benchM5ark.

Edit: I found it interesting that BMW doesn't offer rear wheel steering at all for the M550i when you can spec it on any other 5 series. You'd think they want to offer it on their most sporting 5 series yet.

Only one person that rated my post as a "winner" understood why i've said that the car is causing me problems...
