Man - I was just joking - you take things much too seriously - Relaaaaaax!

What a strange post. I was just replying to your comment of there being a "permanent fight between me and Scott".

There were actually TWO other people commenting on the credibility of Scott in this thread before me, but I get all the attention. I even stuck up for Scott initially when I said "to be fair to Scott".

You see - you cant stop being serious!

Anyhow, lets continue with the comparison between MB E-Class and the G30 (.....i was just JOKING!)

According to the other site the M4 and 4 series will get the option of OLED lights (5AN) so eventually the 5 series should get them. Won't be surprised if the M5 get them right off the bat.

540i weights EU 1735 kg with the standard auto transmission and 340i is EU 1690 kg with the optional auto. Only 45 kg difference, that's impressive! The difference is less than with the smaller models. I remember reading that the four cylinder 5er uses the suspension of the 3er and the bigger that of the 7er, which is leading me to the thought that the suspension of the 7er is much lighter than the suspension of the 3er. Scott? Enl?

I don't know where you've got your figures from, but they're both wrong. How difficult can it be?

You've quoted the 340i xDrive weight. The RWD 340i 1,615kg (EU1). And the 540i is 1,670kg (EU1). So the difference is 55kg.

Yes, you are right for RWD version, but he is also right for xDrive version. 1735kg for 540iXdrive and 1690kg for 340iXdrive...so Xdrive option is 10kg lighter in case of 540i.

But he never mentioned xDrive at all.

..so Xdrive option is 10kg lighter in case of 540i.

10kg lighter than what?

340i 1,615kg
340i xDrive 1,690kg
540i 1,670kg
540i xDrive 1,735kg

EDIT: I think you're saying that the addition of xDrive on the 5 Series means a weight penalty of 10kg LESS than the penalty on the 3 Series.

My bad. I Didn't mention that it is for the xdrive. But anyway my point is that the bigger the engine the smaller the difference of the weight and I was expecting just the opposite.
520d is 1635 auto
320d is 1525 auto.
The difference is 110 kg and they use the same underpinnings and brakes. With 340i and 540i the difference is 55 kilos and the 5er is using the underpinnings and the brakes from the 7er
