The difference is less than with the smaller models. I remember reading that the four cylinder 5er uses the suspension of the 3er and the bigger that of the 7er, which is leading me to the thought that the suspension of the 7er is much lighter than the suspension of the 3er. I don't know where you've got your figures from, but they're both wrong. How difficult can it be?

You've quoted the 340i xDrive weight. The RWD 340i 1,615kg (EU1). And the 540i is 1,670kg (EU1). So the difference is 55kg.

Yes, you are right for RWD version, but he is also right for xDrive version. 1735kg for 540iXdrive and 1690kg for 340iXdrive...so Xdrive option is 10kg lighter in case of 540i.

My bad. I Didn't mention that it is for the xdrive. But anyway my point is that the bigger the engine the smaller the difference of the weight and I was expecting just the opposite.
520d is 1635 auto
320d is 1525 auto.
The difference is 110 kg and they use the same underpinnings and brakes. With 340i and 540i the difference is 55 kilos and the 5er is using the underpinnings and the brakes from the 7er
