Its hard to spot from the available photos, but the M550i actually has two twin rectangular exhausts on each side, all within the bigger singular exhaust.

Look closely...
It was already the case with F10 550, F13 650, F01 740, 750 and 760 having fake rectangular exhaust with two round exhaust pipe hidden inside them.
Standard 66 liters. Seen on www.bmw.de 5 er
Tank capacity is 66 liters for diesel (520d/530d) and 68 liters for petrol (530i/540i).

There is no technical information available at the moment for the M550i or other engine variant coming in march 2017.

Oops, you're right, 68 ltrs for the petrols: must be the dieseldriver in me :)

These days it's more or less DIN. The E has 66 liters and I guess the coming A6 won't have much more to offer. I'd prefer them to have a tank of circa 80 liters, so that one can easily drive 1.500 km before refueling.

My Panamera is in for repairs and I've been driving an F10 528i with the old 3l straight six. Wonderful BMW engine characteristics but it is not a big performer. I don't know how big the tank is but it is not big enough. Constantly refueling (compared to the 80l tank in my Panny). Most Panamera's in SA come with 100l tanks (as do the Cayenne's). 66 or 68 liters is paltry..

Gotta lower that EU weight figure, which includes a 90% filled tank ;)

I think that is a big part of it. That plus with imaginary consumptions figures, they can say it's fine with a small tank.

That's exactly what MB does. The E-Class comes with a standard 55 liters tank and an optional 66 liters(on some models).
Add around 15kg. for the bigger tank and more fuel and the weight difference between the 5 and E is even more noticeable.

I took a look at the French press release of the new 5-series, no words on the M550i and it's not listed with the models coming in march 2017. I guess it will only be available in market where BMW succeed to sold more than a handful of 550i F10.
