4 Series (F32) [Official] BMW 4-Series Coupe

The first generation of the BMW 4 Series consists of the F32 (coupé version), F33 (convertible version) and F36 (five-door liftback version, marketed as 'Gran Coupé') compact executive cars. The 4 Series was created when BMW spun off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the 3 Series into a separate series. Production: July 2013 – September 2020

Maybe I wrote wrong, the answer is that, the coupe is more rigid because it has no back doors.
fewer openings: usually stiffer

but i remember e36 sedan being more rigid than coupe because it had b pillar

E36 Coupe also has B pillars.

But I too remember reading the same about the E36 sedan being slightly more rigid than the coupe but the reasons given varied -
a. cause the coupe had frameless windows.
b. cause the coupe had fold down rear seats vs a rigid bulk head for the sedan (I am not sure if the fold down seats were an option on either model).
c. The coupe had a bigger opening for windscreen since it was more sloped.

Not sure how accurate any of this was. Either way I doubt there is a significant difference in the torsional rigidity between a sedan and coupe as long as both have B pillars.

^ Maybe we need crash test pics and ask K-A back to check the torsional rigidity with his naked eye?

E46 Coupe was less rigid than a sedan with fold down rear seats. The coupe had them standard.

Exterior looks much better in this presentation. Interior looks spacious, but I'm not liking the red leather and the sport treatment, especially the steering wheel. Makes me think that making the M4 interior look sporting will be a challenge.

So, I was at the BMW stand at Goodwood, and a "host with an iPad" came over and started talking to me. He started telling me about the M6 Gran Coupe I was looking at and to cut a long story short, I told him that I was a big fan of BMW and knew all about every car they had, but I was disappointed they didn't have a 4 Series on display. He told me that they weren't allowed to display it publicly until after the press drives. However, if I had a BMW he would take me up to the first floor where they have one on show behind the scenes. I told him that I didn't currently own a BMW but I'd owned four BMW's in my life, three of which were M cars. This seemed to satisfy him because he then proceeded to take my dad and I upstairs to see the 4 Series.

Estoril Blue II, with all the options. HUD, auto gearbox, LED headlights. Just as I expected, the car looks much better in real life. After seeing the photos I was underwhelmed but as with every BMW in the last five years, the photos do not do the car justice. I was surprised how cheap the car was too. It was a 435i M Sport and felt like it should be around £50,000, but the price list in the boot of that exact model came to £42,000.

Anyway, here's the one photo I took.

Aaah! What a beaut! I simply can't wait for it to arrive locally.

I think it would be enough to say you own R8 and can afford two 435's if you want to and he would let you see the car ;)
Not fan of the yellowish tone you use for your photos. Luckily I have photoshop so the yellow color is gone on my computer.

No, I agree actually. Doesn't look so good in that photo. Unfortunately I spent about an hour adding it to all 60 photographs I took at Goodwood so I can't change it now!
