Most likely this colour is “semi
-individual” Oxide Grey II, but very nice if one of the insiders can confirm.

Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.2 D / BMW 320d: TestGiulia and 3 in a sporting duel

OUR CONCLUSION

Third comparison test - third victory in a row
. The new BMW 3 Series establishes itself as a new benchmark in the middle class. Space and build quality are impeccable, the precise driving dynamics is exemplary, and the engine-transmission unit in the 320d turns out to be the perfect power source with eight-speed automatic transmission. Sure, this car is not cheap for more than 40,000 euros base price. This also applies to the Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.2 D. Although the beautiful Italian woman shows the better cost balance in the end, the savings are only marginal. The good driving dynamics, the impressive performance and the very efficient drive speak for the Giulia. But that's not enough for a win against the extremely strong BMW.

Totally different verdict from the one on Motortrend the new 3er has lost every test on that mag including against a Alfa, Tesla and Genesis.

THe more I see the grille for the M340i, the more I loathe it. I would most definitely swap that out. Also don't get me started on those nauseating creme-colored NJ license plates.

Nice setup! But they should leave out these M stripes from the grille! There isn't one bimmer on the planet, where those stripes look good!

D'uh!

A comparable BEV drives better than ICEV. What's new?
... It's physics. There's no denial there ... Again, it's a fact: BEVs drive better than (comparable) ICEVs. Vehicles with lower center of gravity do drive better than the ones with higher one. And braking in BEV (where e-motor really does proper engine-braking) is definitely superior to braking in ICEV. Not to mention the accelerations due to e-motor's instant max torque availability. BEV is a superior product to ICEV in all the aspects. It's a fact.

I'm much more eager to see Model 3 vs i4 comparisons in 2021. That will be the real battle of the Titans. That will be the battle BMW has to be prepared for, and win it ... or else ... BMW brand image could be at stake there. But ... 4er (GC) ICEV is already set to drive better than 3er Sedan ... so it's fair to expect i4 BEV will drive even / much better ... with much lower center of gravity etc.

The only question that matters in this case (3er / 4er GC vs i4) is : will BMW (or any other legacy carmaker) deliberately compromise its BEV's performances & characteristics in a way not to hurt the core (or the most iconic) ICEV models. Eg. will BMW deliberately compromise i4's performance & driving abilities just not to hurt the M3 / M4?

Of course - this is not an Internal Combustion thread and so such comparisons (and more so the ensuing argy-bargy) should be left out of this official thread.
