2 Series [Official] BMW 2 Series (F22) Coupe

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.
It is too bad I'm not in the market for a car like this. The M235i would be the perfect little BMW.

All we talk about here is the M235i, why is no one or no media mentioning the other lower variants? Would love to know how the 228i or 220d goes against the competition in standard set up.

It destroys the competition. But there is none. All the others are FWD/AWD crap, and the GT86 is far to slow.

What is the competition, VW Polo?

You can buy at least 3 Polo's for the price of 1 M235i. More like 4.

So no, but that was fairly obvious. A base 2er coupe is VW Passat level.

So, the 2 Series is a good looking car, but IMHO, I don't think it deserves the gushing accolades some people are giving it. There are far better looking coupes around, such as the 4 Series and 6 Series.

And I think the 2er coupe looks better than the 6er coupe and 4er coupe combined.

Such a gorgeous little coupe. Shame BMW Australia still treats us like idiots, otherwise I would have definitely cross shopped with the S3.

They'll bring it out 6 months after you get your S3 ... and you can get it then !

competition = A3 sedan / CLA? same class just 2 doors less...

if there is one weakness i can identify, got to say it's the interior. It's not bad and it's nothing about the materials, but the design seem to stayed at the present age, while the simplicity of the A class and A3 took it to another era. And i don't foresee it's BMW's strategy to have busy interiors plagued with lines in their next generation so this is definitely not the way to go imo. Wonder if someone would feel stressed by just sitting in there, it's just overdone imo, in a bid to not look cheap while maintaining a layout that is inferior to the 3series (because it has to)...i think they must've felt a bit caught out when they saw both the A3 and A class have such simple and cleaner interiors.

Out of topic but today walking, came across a E46 and that interior, still looks so damn perfect - classy, practical, clean and modern. Revive and refine those kind of interior, think of a way to integrate a screen, and they would be the leader again, instead of following others.

Try to imagine the best parts of the 4er combined with the best parts of 6er ;)

In what way they do?

They have overpriced the vehicle by about $5-10k for each variant. After lukewarm sales of the 3-series and now the 4-series, which a couple of dealers have told me has not been selling too well in Australia, you think they would have learnt by now. We also don't get a host of features available in other markets.

In 2014 BMW Australia still thinks advanced driving aids consists of optional front parking sensors, rear view camera and park assistance. Radar cruise control, lane keeping and lane changing assistance etc. are simply not available on the 2 series.

Finally the level of standard equipment leaves much to be desired and you end up overpricing your vehicle once you put on some desirable options.

We don't get a 225i or 228i yet. There is a $20,000 price gap between the 220i and the 235i.

Such a shame really. It looks like such a lovely vehicle.

That's so silly, even the Mini will be coming with all those things in the new model. Wonder if people will retrofit that stuff with European parts?

They sound like BMW Bolivia, then. Some 4 years ago when BMW got back in the country, they had excellent prices and moved loads of cars. They were even awarded for being the dealer with most sales in South America, even surpassing Brazil, which is a huge market.
Then they became nuts and now a basic, no frills X1 cost 60000 usd. Result? Very few new models on the streets....

Yes it's stupid. And it's BMW Australia's way of forcing you into a 4 series and paying another $15-20k more.

They don't force you on anything. If you think it's too much, buy another car/brand (yes yes I know you did)

So are BMW and MB prices on par, and is Audi cheaper over there, or what?

It looks like they might ONLY be selling the M235i and will never intro lower models in? well i guess they might take a diesel in but i think in New Zealand, the 1series coupe was only offered as the 135i. And that's how they convey the 1er coupe (or now the 2er) is something "special" with no direct comparison of prices, especially the M235i has a "M" associated with it so they can market it as something superior than let's say a 435i in some ways which is without a "M". And did you mean $15K to $20K AUD would take the M235i to a 435i?

Klier BMW is increasingly the most expensive based on list price. This is of course at the lower end of the range. Mercedes still rules the roost at the upper end. What really messes things up is that all 3 of them will offer massive discounts when a product becomes slow moving and this ends up burning their own customers who had already paid higher prices. This is what happened with the 3 and now 4. Anyhow we're going way off topic here....

Bmwownage there's more like a$30k difference between a 235i and 435i here.
