Rhys Millen has set a new production SUV record at Pikes Peak in a Bentley Bentayga W12, setting a time of 10min 49.902secs. The previous record was held by Land Rover’s Range Rover Sport, which completed the course in 12min 35.610sec four years ago.
Oh those first world problems...The Bentayga is increasingly becoming a common sight.
They kind of are though... I don’t know about other metros but the burbs of DC are filled with this SUVOh those first world problems...

It’s absolutely mind boggling how much people are spending on a set(s) of wheels. In the 90s if you bought an E class you were in the top echelon of consumers on the road; now everyone and their mother drives a car in its classIt's an encouraging sign for car manufacturers - especially Land Rover who should strongly consider an ultra flagship model above the full fat Range Rover. Otherwise the Bentyga will occupy a sweet-spot between it and the ultra expensive Cullinan.
Although an SUV below the Cullinan is not in the pipeline, it's inevitable. Young and rich buyers buying $1500 sneakers are too hard to ignore and to them the Cullinan like the Phantom are not cool enough. The Ghost and black badge label shows that RR do pay attention to changing customer demographics.
The largest discounts I have seen is 15% on factory orders on the diesel model. It’s best to think of the Bentyga like the mk1 Cayenne. Not classically beautiful on the outside but utterly fantastic behind the wheel.I know people are getting $50-70k discounts on these; for a while sales fell flat and dealerships didnt know what to do with the heavy stock. I dislike the car, but I won't deny that it's become a moderately popular car.... meaning it has accomplished it's set task.
There are now 2 Bentagya's on my block.

^ Jealous of that new Dawn though.
The Bentyga is not as out of reach as some people might think. I've seen several with 6,000-8,000 miles selling similar money as delivery mileage RR Autobiography or RRS SVR. With superior leather, veeners, engine, refinement, customer service and the delight of distinguishing oneself from the less wealthy, the Bentyga is clearly worth considering.2018 U.S. sales don’t seem to Be insanely high but after 2 years on the market they are definitely accumulating in wealthy neighborhoods. My mother has been eyeing them lately, which I find interesting because she has expressed the Bentayga didn’t look special enough (exterior) in the past.
Yeah it's not everyone's cup of tea. Bowser on the outside and Princes Peach on the inside. That color combo is hideous to me. When it comes to green exteriors, the only interior combos I like are some variation of brown/tan or sometimes black.
