e-tron GT [Official] Audi e-tron GT

The Audi e-tron GT is a battery electric executive car produced by Audi since late 2020 as part of the e-tron battery electric sub-brand, and the third fully electric car model, after Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback SUVs. It is also Audi's first full-sized electric sedan, and the RS e-tron GT, put on the market in 2021 is, in terms of 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) times, the fastest Audi sedan to date. Based on the J1 platform shared with the Porsche Taycan, the car went on sale in March 2021.
But now whenever I see the car (in a picture) I think the snout is too long. Why ?
Because it gives the car the same proportions as a crocodile, cayman or Porsche Cayman. It's a familiar shape that appears in nature.

This car is a Quattro, really ? It has not much to do with a real (old) Quattro. It simply has two motors on two axels. So the name is mainly for marketing, marketing, marketing. Just as the adds that were on air around xmas, so long ago, but still no delivery dates ... (Did YOU like the adds ? With the two gay guys ? You say, they are not gay, they just behave a bit "strange". Well as it may be.) But it (this "Quattro") probably means there will never be a single motor version. Which is a shame, because that would be good enough as a starter. For the Ioniq 5 there is the choice, another plus, I think. (I think 170 kW on the hind wheels is good enough for many occasions and maybe even helps a bit to widen the range.)

Maybe like a hippopotamus ?? Yes, the Porsche looks a bit that way (like a cayman). But the Audi does not.

Maybe one more thought about the price of the GT. It is more expensive than the entry taycan. But if you wanted to sell the car, you would probably get less for it than for an equivalent Porsche. This makes it an extremely expensive car.
I asked for a leasing offer, and there you found it again. The value remaining after 3 and 4 years (44%) is VERY low (below 50 percent even after only 3 years), that makes it once again one of the highest leasing rates I have ever seen.
So not even Audi (or AMAG) think that the resale value will be high. (Or do you think they try to lure you into a overly high leasing ?)
So why should I buy such a car. Maybe better wait for a "riper" design ?!

I would really like to be able to make a fair comparison between these fast cars (Taycan, E-tron GT, Tesla S or plaid). But currently the spec sheets are not very useful. Simply said the Tesla’s have by far the best spec sheets. But are they simply the best cars ? I doubt it, or at least at such a big gap.
So is there no other measurement ? For example a combination of the maximum range at 100km/h (the acceleration to 96/100 is usually already known) and the max range at 200 km/h and maybe additionally the top speed (250 ?) plus the max range at top speed. And maybe also the energy usage at these three speeds. Maybe also the typical energy usage at 130km/h and the time to speed up from 60km/h to 130 km/h. This is what counts for daily usage.
I am not young anymore and rarely/never do cavalier starts, but acceleration when entering the highway is much more typical.
Any ideas ?

Is it possible to recharge 80% of the battery in 20 minutes or less?

It depends where you start. If you start at 0 % percent then it is not possible, because the lowest few percent take longer.
If you speak about from 15% to 80% then it is possible. Especially with cars using 800V technology. And if you can use a charger that delivers 270 kW, but most chargers offer only 150 kW or even much less.
In the web you find tests that did it in 18 min or some in 23 min (still quite good).
But you have to keep in mind that if you do this daily, then it is a problem that the batteries will be heavily stressed and will deteriorate prematurely.

Pissgelb. Or maybe diabetes yellow ?! Costs probably a lot extra, see the front grill in the same color, etc.

The designer Marc Lichte (who btw has the worst haircut in the world) recently stated that all electric Audis will have the grille colour matching the colour of the car with a black mascara surrounding the grille.

The Audi Singleframe connects the cooler above and below to form a unit. But: what to do if an electric vehicle no longer has a cooler? How do we show that it’s an electric car and still an Audi? My team had an idea that was as simple as it was ingenious: The single-frame grill on an Audi with a combustion engine is always black because it is open and ventilates the radiator behind it. With the Audi e-tron, the single frame is optically inverted, always in the body color and framed in dark. From a distance you can tell like this: It’s an Audi, but it’s an electric vehicle. The single frame turns an Audi into an Audi. Also an electric Audi. “

As for the yellow colour, it turns out the Audi is in desperate need for some water according to THIS chart.

This will remain true for many charging station. Some won't be able to supply 800kW to several cars concurrently.

The grid might not cope, hence why Tesla has a huge advantage in being able to install battery storage at super charging stations to help with load balancing.

Is there any reason why you think only Tesla can install battery storage at charging stations?

Saw the car live today. To be honest I'm not feeling it. It's a bit of a design mess. The fact it was a grayish blue color did not help.

Ok, the Front is great, but the overall feeling I got is that design wise the tried a half way between a RS7 and R8 4door look and it didn't really work. And second of all it's very muscular, with sharp lines like all audis now, but then again it's rounded at the back, the rear lightbar is shaped like a banana just showing the roundness even more instead of emphasising width. When I saw the front in my rear view mirror I got very excited. After I saw it from every angle I was like "meh"

Yes, there is simply a bit too much going on in terms of the eTron GTs' exterior design. While I do continue to find the car immensely eye-arresting, there are certain elements applied that leave me contemplating: "Less could have been quite a bit more". An example: While I realize that the front wing air outlets serve a function, they are eyesores.
I also think that doorhandles ala Porsche Taycan would have been less flow disruptive, air as well as eye-wise. And the large reflector segments under the taillamp band could have been a bit more shallow and less blocky. And save the 21" plastic-aeroblade inserted versions (those featured in Dougs' video), I don't care for the rim designs. All in all, I prefer the Taycan, which in-the-metal, is simply drop-dead gorgeous..

It's like they tried to do a 1st gen R8 a 4 door and adding as much details as they could think off.

I remain quite inconsistent in my opinions regarding the eTron GT/Taycan comparison. Should a well-produced, well-presented video appear with a nicely configured example, the eTron GT can seriously swoon me. That being said, I have yet to see one in-the-metal or in a real-life environment. Maybe that will enable me to make up my mind and draw some kind of cohesive verdict. So far, the Taycan has yet to fail to immensely impress me. And I've experienced the Taycan in the metal and have spent a few minutes inside of one. In addition, the Taycan is selling very well here in my region of Germany and is becoming an increasingly common sight on our roads.

I will say this: VAG has, IMHO, a stranglehold on the looks department in this elevated 4 door sedoupe segment. Taycan 1# with the eTron GT the runner-up. Or is it the other way around ?

Beside the looks, also the price comparison between these two is very interesting. Looks like the Audi won't be a bargain. For similar prices very few customers would chose the Audi before the Porsche, IMHO of course.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
