A5/S5/RS5 Official: Audi A5 Sportback

The Audi A5 is a series of compact executive and grand touring coupé cars produced by Audi. Production: 2007-
So would I.
While nice looking, Passat CC's rear lights don't really fit with the rest of the design.
Oh, and it's still FWD with a transversally mounted engine :D

The Audi is obviously also FWD but it is an Audi.

The base models are... I don't think I'd ever consider them. Audi without torsen mechanical quattro just doesn't seem right somehow :)

ohh..
well lets wait for the pictures then..
so far it looks like they slapped a pair of extra doors on a A5;)

Let's hope not...I'm expecting a wow factor from this A5 sportback...I don't want a rebadged A4 or A5. Most Audis are already boring anyway...

I can't find any revealing caption in this:

That is, assuming, you were referreing to me regarding the illiteracy.

I'm not talking about that pic. I'm talking about this old Fourtitude one:

... the ensuing discussion around it being official or not was most amusing.

lol ^^

I want to put it this way...
Let's just hope Audi will kill the A4 name & car in a couple of years
so the A5 can take over completley, the A4 is uninspiring.. the A5 is sexy!
Anyway in the end the only Audi in the future with a 4 in the name should
be the R4 only that would make the name special...

Wait...this car has four doors?...Why not give it a different name then? The CLS is the E-class four door coupe, but aleast it's called something different.

Maybe A5.5 or something...wow

Actually, CLS is 4 door E sedan ;) E-coupé is a 2 door C sedan ;)
But you're right. A7 = CLS/6er fighter, A5 sportback = E-coupé, 3er coupé, 3er/C sedan fighter

Yes and that's what I wrote, that the CLS is a four door coupe based on the E-class:) As for the A5 sportsback it does not have a direct competitor except for the Passat CC. It's basically the birth child of an A4 sedan and A5 coupe.

The A5 two door coupe is what rivals the E-Coupe and E92 while the Sportback opens up the ports to a new segment of "affordable" four door coupes. In reality the Passat CC did that but no one really cares for it since it's an oxymoron. Coupes are bought for their strong style image and premium impression, and sadly that doesn't apply to the Passat CC since VW is not a sexy nor stylish brand -- it's a utilitarian people's brand like Walmart and Ikea.

So basically the A5 should attract those who find an A5 coupe, 3er coupe and E-Coupe to be a bit too ordinary. And it will at the same time cater to individuals in the market for a sexy coupe but don't want to give up the practicallity of a four door sedan. This is why the CLS has been popular, it appeal to people just as much, if not even more, than a 6-series coupe but yet is pragmatic from an ordinary man's stand point.

That actually looks like a better version and more well-proportioned version of the 5'er GT, lol.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
