This guy has said exactly what I have suspected of the new A3 interior build quality, its a big step backwards from the previous model. Otherwise he was quite impressed with how it drives.

Talking about material quality in many VAG offerings - 992 and Golf included - we see a distinct degradation over the previous generation.

So true. Strangely enough some Skoda models have better quality materials inside than VW and Audi. Current A1 has really gone southward in terms of interior quality but especially ID.3 lower dashboard and doorpanel material is dismal in terms of look and feel. Must be the fallout of the Diesel scandal but this way it will not help customer appreciation in the long run.

We don't get any iD cars down here in SA but, for sure, even cars like the current Q5 - once lauded for its best-in-class interior quality - has taken a step backwards; the entire lower half of the dash is hard plastic. Unheard of in an Audi.

Yup. The shocking thing was finding these hard plastics in the new A7 and A6 in areas that fall easily to hand.
