Btw, this one is for sale for 38.990,00 €. Is that expensive @Mick Briesgau ?
Baseprice of the A4 Avant is € 33.700,- So the white one isn't completely bare. € 39.000 are circa DM 78.000,-. For that kind of money you could buy a Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse 300 SEL (W126).... back in 1991![]()
Over the past week so have seen lots of A4 leases with the 1.4l Petrol. It might seem weak but it’s powering lots of decent sized VAG cars. It makes them cheap to buy and cheap to run.
I just went to the BMW dealership here in Holland to see the new X3 and 6er GT in real life, and they had an X3 2.0, and it costed more than 100k Euro. For reference.

But then who needs that from a car like this?
Millions and millions, and that's why the BMW 3 series accounts for roughly 30% of all BMW sales every year, and why the 3 series is selling in huge numbers since the early '80s.
The question should be, "who doesn't need that in a car like this"? A braindead person who doesn't enjoy driving, that's who.
Do you seriously think the majority of people buy the 3 Series because of the way it goes round bends? I don't. I don't think the majority of people on the road have a clue what a good driving car feels like.
In my country even the younger generation know that a BMW 3 series is a special car to drive compared to most other main stream cars. It's always been marketed as a driver's car and this young generation know this cause their parents drove older 3 series models and passed down it's legacy that it is a good car to drive around corners.Do you seriously think the majority of people buy the 3 Series because of the way it goes round bends? Great little car the 1300 and 1600 are legends. Their engines, gearboxes and handling were stand out characteristics at that time. Only electrics and some other mechanical issues let this car downPerhaps a "spiritual predecessor" of the modern sport executive sedan, I recall that this particular car never failed make my heart flutter with excitement and joy when I was afforded the occasional opportunity to drive one (thanks to a kind, generous and trusting cousin who owned two-the latter almost identical to the example pictured below). It really fit my admittedly novice definition of a "drivers' car" waaaay back in my far younger, far more enthusiastic, obsessively car crazy years.

Wasted money if the “big” facelift is just arround the corner.
