A1/S1 Official: Audi A1 Quattro

The Audi A1 is a luxury supermini car launched by Audi at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the initial three-door A1 model started in Germany in August 2010, with the United Kingdom following in November 2010.
I know the TTS is capable of this but didn't think the S3 could as well, are you sure about this?
My bad. I was meaning the TT-S of course, which does 5.1 secs to 100 km/h.
The S3 does 5.7 yes. But there have been tests on sub 5.5 secs results.

I wish they would go just as crazy with the A5 and build that same type of machine, BUT focus more on weight loss. That would be the ultimate Audi. (after the R8 GT of course)

That sounds very poor don't you think, the one car that is equipped with awd posting identical times to those fwd ones.

S3 isnt better than this. I driven S3 and gosh I hate the car, no emotional at all. S3 also rated last in this test. They did mention S3 lost power during acceleration.

more numbers
60–100 km/h im 4. gear: 4,8 s 4,5 s 4,4 s 4,6 s

I have also driven the S3. One of my favorite cars. It brought out all the emotions from me possible. Loved everyth little thing of it. Wouldnt mind having one in my drive way. Anyways, back to topic.

Damnit,I want one so bad!! Truely one of the more special releases from Audi in sometime. Why not bring a few over to America?:t-banghea

Like a John Cooper S Works. Audi really went all out on the nostalgia and the car looks smacking sans decals. I can see this being picked up like a Cygnet by R8 owners as an extra car, a collectors item.

I wonder what the price will end up at. I can't believe it will be that dire because there doesn't appear to be any exotic materials in it's construction and all the equipment is standard Audi parts bin but the limited 333 will add something to the overall price.

Given the choice between this or an S3 or even an RS3 I think I would pick this.

Again, because nobody answered my question: does the A1 Quattro have center lock rims as in the 911 GT3?

Oh for crying out loud mate... Just pay someone to get their fingers dirty instead of you. Easy solution.

Not the same mate! When YOU do it, YOU know everything about the car. I never ever let people clean my car. Specielly cause you dont know what car they cleaned before yours! If you want to keep your car scratch clean, you gotta do it yourself ;)

Indeed! Hard work and an effort nonetheless, a wash cloth (preferably micro fiber + plenty for every task) and the other tools - brushes for the wheels etc.

:t-cheers:

My X6 gets THAT treatment the X1 goes to the carwash:D

Alas back problems means a trip to the local hand washers. Though to be fair the job they do it's bloody brilliant.

Slightly disappointed that the flared wheel arches didn't make it to the production version, otherwise this is one angry looking thing. Love those retro styled wheels. Interesting to read that during normal driving conditions the front wheels receive most of the power
Agree about the arches. Power goes to the front since it's a iv gen haldex like the tts.
not my cup of tea. I rather be driving a Scirrocco R.
Scirocco has one of the best if not the best rear seats in a small coupe/hatch thing. Designed for actual human beings. TTS/A1 doesn't which is why I don't drive either of them now.
Centerlock rims like the 911 GT3?
Correct they are centerlock rims but don't know if exactly the same as 911 gt3.
It is relatively slow considering the power to weight ratio which sure will be better than Golf R and Audi S3
Power is underwelming for the looks. I expected around 300bhp from the 2l considering what TTS made in 2007. TTS accelerates 5.4s & 5.2s 0-100 (manual vs. stronic) so acceleration figures are disappointing as well for the A1.

So pointless rear seats, flat bottom steering which I absolutely hate (never could get to grips with one), wheels you can't clean and white colour (which I don't like), underwealming output/performance figures (for the looks of the car), plus it looks like a hatch not a coupe and an astronomic price will keep this off my shopping list.

Indeed. :) I dont think my A4 would be scratchless, if I gave it away to people/carwash machines. 11 years, and she has been handwashed by me from the day one :)

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
