Giulia [Official] Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a compact executive car produced by Alfa Romeo. Known internally as the Type 952, it was unveiled in June 2015, with market launch scheduled for February 2016, and it is the first saloon offered by Alfa Romeo after the production of the 159 ended in 2011.
Mercedes is trying by so many years to arrive at the level of the M3 with their AMG C series. And step by step, effort by effort they are closer and closer but still not at the same level of handling or lap results .Am I right? So if Giulia will even come close to the M3 and not win (and so, close to both them), it will be still an huge step forward for Alfa. Just my 2 cents.
According to american carmags, the new Caddy is quicker than the M4. Am I right?
Nothing is impossible.

I agree..but don't tell me ..tell to our friend @klier;)
My personal opinion is that the two areas where Giulia can win with M3 (M4 is not 4 door sedan) are :
stronger engine BUILT by Ferrari and not by Alfa Romeo don't forget..and better traction.I remember you that behind the Giulia there is a man that was responsible for the Speciale's development..But for me no problem with every result since I love Emme cars since decades..

Ferrari this, Ferrari that. This is an Alfa and no company makes better 6 cylinder engines than BMW, so I don't care who built the engine ;)

When you will own your first Ferrari you will change your opinion;)..

If they are off a few seconds, so be it. I am pretty ambivalent about the N-ring time for the Quadro. If it truly is what's been reported, that'll make great PR, and if not, the Alfa folks have some egg on their face, right? At the end of the day, what will drive AR closer to their (ridiculously) lofty goal of 400,000 per annum is how well the volume-selling non-Quadro models do. This is me being a broken record again, but they need to be well-built, reliable, dynamic, and provide efficient yet spirited performance.

The name "Alfa Romeo" brings about many emotions...some good (evocative style, perfomance, handling) and some not so good (shoddy build, reliability, etc.). If they have addressed the latter and emphasized the former, I don't give two sh**s about 'Ring times because 99% of the time I am not driving it like a stole it. At the end of the day it's a 4-door sedan not a track special, so track times of little concern and I'll wager many buyers won't care either.

Maybe, if not, make some omelettes, quiches, frittatas or bake something. The possibilities are endless. :D

While it doesn't affect me much, I hope, for their sake of getting things started on the right foot, they aren't BS-ing us with that time. All it takes is one small break in the link of chains for people to cast serious doubts on it. I would really like to see Alfa do well, it's a brand with such rich history in perfomance, design, racing, etc. that has been left to wallow in mediocrity due to incompetent cr** management. As much as I like the German 3 and their stoic teutonic (some may say "clinical") approach , we need rabble-rousers to kick the hornet's nest. That's part of the reason why I like rooting for the underdogs like the Cadillac ATS and CTS, Lexus, etc. to challenge the German hegemony.

To bring this annoying lap time discussion (at least for me :p) to an end:
I estimate a 7:39 as being perfectly possible for the Giulia. Given good tires, good weather conditions and a professional driver with lots of experience with the Giulia!
Unfortunately all other times shown in this comparison a few pages above are SportAuto times of cars. I really know those laptimes :) I do not repeat my comments about how those times are conducted ...
But let me say this: SportAuto did a 7:52 with the M4. Before the M4 was officially presented, there was some rumour on german sites, that ///M test drivers were able to achieve low 7:40s easily. But BMW did - contrary to Alfa - NOT publish NRing times.
So my conclusion on this: testdrivers of M4 and Giulia are able to produce similar lap times, so I expect that Giulia will perform also similar in the benchmark, which is the Sport Auto supertest.

I know you are waiting for other engines. Some mentions here (not details but better than nothing)..

Unfortunately, nothing but to further elaborate on the engines...

Scoop: 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia Diesel and Petrol Engines are Extremely Promising

The photograph above features the icing on the 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia cake – the all-new 3.0 twin-turbo V6 the Quadrifoglio Verde stormed the Nurburgring faster than a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, Porsche 911 GT3 or a McLaren Mercedes SLR bruiser. The fastest four-door sedan on the 'Ring doesn't only come with this full-on, Ferrari-developed V6, though.

autoevolution's reliable source gave us the inside scoop for the rest of the 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia's engine lineup. Other than the twin-turbo six-cylinder blunderbuss of the QV, lesser hot Giulia models will be animated by a choice of four and six-banger mills. What they all have in common is forced induction. Euro 6 emissions standards force automakers to resort to turbocharging, but this is for the greater good.

First there's an all-new 2.0 turbo petrol engine that will be offered in three flavors. 180 PS (178 bhp / 133 kW) will act as the starting point. A 250 PS (247 bhp / 184 kW) variant will also be offered, joined by a hell-bent for leather 330 PS (326 bhp / 243 kW) tune. But what about The Prodigy's favorite – the Diesel Power?

The 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan has some of that too. A 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel is going to be offered in three outputs: 135 PS (133 bhp / 99 kW), 180 PS (178 bhp / 133 kW), and 210 PS (207 bhp / 154 kW). Last but not least, a 3.0 V6 twin-turbo diesel will be available with 340 PS (335 bhp / 250 kW).

We hear that Alfa Romeo will officially confirm these powerplants in December, with the European market launch slated for February 2016. The first units to be produced will be animated by the 2.2-liter turbo diesel and the 3-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine exclusive to the Quadrifoglio Verde-badged super sedan.

To be assembled at Cassino in Italy, the Giulia represents the first surprise in a long line of others Alfa is preparing for us folks. The Italian manufacturer continues to prove that the Giulia has been worth the wait.

So all 4-cylinders unless you get the QV? BOOO!!!

Kinda - if you're only interested in the petrol engines. In the diesel top-liner you get a V6 with two turbos. And an el-Mafioso crapload of (hidden) emissions to be expected.

Yeah, I am disappointed as well but not entirely surprised. We sort of knew that's what is going to be, but I was hoping for an official announcement where they'd surprise us with a V6 that could compete with, say, a C450 AMGSport. Now the ~350hp inline-4 petrol engine is nothing to sneeze at, but it's just not the same.
