Taycan [Official] 2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo

The Porsche Taycan is a battery electric luxury sports sedan and shooting brake car produced by Porsche.
@Jimmy your frequent gushing about the Taycan is in my opinion absolutely on point. They have finally arrived down under and I got to see the car twice this week. On my second inspection I was absolutely floored!

The Cross Tourismo has now sky-rocketed to the top of my list as a potential X3 replacement.
Do you think we can get a group discount if we purchase it together? It is time for upgrading my Macan.

Are you in Brisbane?

I'm having my second test drive tomorrow and if the wife is happy with it, I will be placing an order for a 4S Cross Tourismo.

Don't know how much success we will have though, my neighbour just bought a Cayenne GTS. Six month wait with a $0 discount.

Sydney for me. I have a friend who is deciding on this or the Cayenne. I'm in a similar boat as him. All down to the missus. Also been told it is at least a 6-8 month wait. My only issue is where I can charge the car!

I've heard in car meets that if there are a good number of buyers, we can look at "free" upgrades like seat belt colours, trims etc. as opposed to actual discounts to the car. Not sure how accurate that is.

Download the Foxcharge app.

When do you think you guys will be making a decision?

Probably in the next 2-3 months. Have some taxation stuff to sort out by June.

So it looks like I got myself overly excited and jumped the gun a little bit.

Upon further investigation the charging infrastructure for where I am based is far too rubbish to rely on. I would have to get a decent charge output (no less than 11KW - 12 hour full charge time) at home for the Taycan to be a realistic proposition for me. 22 KW would be even better. Luckily I do have a 3 phase power supply, so I now have to have an audit done to see what I can achieve at home. Porsche organizes this through a company called Jetcharge.

If this doesn't work out, the Taycan will have to be crossed off, which would be very upsetting. I drove the vehicle again yesterday and absolutely loved it. The chassis and steering work they have done is like black magic. The 850i felt very unsettled afterward.

If the Taycan does get crossed off, I'll have at a look at the GLE53/63 Coupe or Cayenne GTS Coupe, with the CLS53 being an outside chance.

Which Taycan have you driven, Cross Turismo - is it more comfortable than the coupe?

If you get the Taycan (hope so) probably you won't want to drive any engine car, maybe something hardcore like a GT3/Lambo.

What's the price of the Taycan down there?

What's the price of the Taycan down there?

A 4S Coupe is about AUD$210K including all on road costs. By the time you add on options, most are ending up around AUD$230K to $240K.

Interestingly Porsche Australia have now massively overhauled Panamera pricing. They pumped up equipment levels drastically and reduced the price by AUD$30-$40K depending on model. This has improved the value proposition by about AUD$80K. A well equipped Panamera 4 now costs $260K which is more competitive with the Taycan. That said dealers are not keeping any Panameras in stock and will only build a car to order. So it's seems pretty evident that the Taycan is hitting some killer blows to the Panamera. The dealership I am dealing with said they only delivered about 8 Panamera's over the last 12 months, whereas they have 80 orders on the Taycan.

Can't get enough of this car... such clean precise metal work...

...and no silly fake vents, yet aggressive without even trying.

Finding this car attractive is akin to defending the iX or the EQS. It's unattractive and only badge bias will save it....

... which should work well for Porsche.
