M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

And now we wait for the M3 CS Touring.

These cars are just pure brilliance.
The M3 CS Touring will be the best of them, absolutely brilliant when this arrives. I love the standard model but the CS will be the Ultimate Family and Dog car, but you need to tie down the pooch in the boot while drifting around the corners,

Here it is.

Over here a normal, nicely specced M3/4 is around or over 200k! It's just insane and literally twice as much as what it's worth. I wouldn't want one for that money even if I could!

No it's not, you're exaggerating again. In the NL, the M3 sedan starts at €138,000, and after adding many options such as full leather (€3,000), better rims (€2,082), metallic paint (€1,294), parking assist (€1,000), laser lights (€1,815), it just scrapes above €150,000. Make it an M3 Competition xDrive to the same spec, and it gets to €159,899.50. Even going as mental as possible and ticking every option, including the €17,500 "track pack", and Individual matt paint at €5,000, I can only get the price to €188,000.

€50,000 in non-Value added taxes! Time to move to Belgium.

Belgium isn't particular good for performance car owners either. You have to pay a "registration tax" when you first take ownership of the vehicle, which is based on emissions and power. An M4 is somewhere around €7,500. The real sting in this particular tale, however, is that each owner has to pay it. So if you buy it new and sell it one month later, the next owner has to pay the same amount.

Probably still worth moving to Belgium, maybe just for the beer.

I just specced one for 190k. An M3 Comp with a lot of options *not* selected. Going over 200k for a non CS M3. The CS is from 200k.

So yeah, a nicely specced M3 is 200k here in Holland. Hard to grasp, I know.

Yeah, I've just had a look at the configurator, not going to mess around too much maxing it out, but roughly speaking the base pre-tax value of the car is €81,500. Add €26,464 in options, which is a bit excessive given the €17,500 M Track Pack... call it €100,000

Then... BTW (21%) €22,672

Then... BPM €50,438

So €182,000 of which €73,000 is tax (40%)

So, accurate claim on the price aside @klier isn't that far off the mark when he says it costs twice what it's worth.

But the price is the part I was saying was inaccurate, so you can't just say "accurate claim on the price aside", as that's the part to which I'm responding.

As to what Klier said:

"Over here a normal, nicely specced M3/4 is around or over 200k!"

That phrase, to me, doesn't even mean a maxed out spec. "Normal, nicely specced" means somewhere between poverty spec and maxed-out. A spec with the nice options but without going mental with the spec sheet". Even if you max out the spec on an M3, you can't get it above €200K. In which case no, it wasn't accurate what Klier said.

I do agree, the retail price of the M3 in Holland is twice that of what it's really worth. In August 2011, the VAT and BPM on my R8 was €123,000, by the way. It was also twice as much as it's worth.

I've just specced an M3 Comp xDrive with every option (and the most expensive options where there is a choice, such as Individual paint at €5,000, and Individual leather at €5,000), and it came to €193,074. That amount is not "over" €200K. Hard to grasp, I know.

It would be very easy for you to prove you can spec a "non CS M3" for over €200K, so I'm happy to be corrected, genuinely.

All this is just getting away from the initial comment you made, which wasn't even talking about a maxed-out spec, but one which is "normal, nicely specced". It's just exaggeration and hyperbole from you, as usual. I'm interested in facts.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
