M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Something which I don't think is being appreciated, but the extra horsepower is only for the xDrive versions. The standard M4 Competition is stuck at 510hp.
My interpretation of the slight power bump for MxDrive only: Up to now the xDrive versions left their RWD siblings in the dust in the 0-100 sprint ... but 100-200 RWD clawed back (due to less inner drive train losses). Maybe suboptimal for the internal ranking, that the more expensive MxDrive version looses to its lesser brother? At least the power bump will fix it. BMW explicitly mentions a 0-200 time for the 530hp version somewhere in the press releases ... this has a reason ;)

Seems like all manufacturers are slowly going Tesla way "how to build the cheapest car possible".

The Germans are investing many billions of dollars into EV R&D, I think (hope) it will settle down again when they have their real EV infrastructure in place, and they can stop focusing on everything at once. Which isn't really working.

Where's that nice gear shifter? Seems like all manufacturers are slowly going Tesla way "how to build the cheapest car possible".
I don’t mind the abolishment of the gear selector. In some cars, it’s big, clumsy and gets in the way of cup holders or storage in the centre console.

I always prefer it, even if it is for decoration

They are still there,
The carbon fiber steering wheel was something reserved for McLarens and friends, BMW quietly took advantage of the SGL experience by taking steps ahead of others in this aspect, in addition to obvious lower costs

I don’t mind it either. What I don’t like is the removal af physical buttons. I was hoping BMW would stand against the Tesla-trend, but unfortunately they are bending over….

And gone are a lot of buttons……

Seems even the steering wheel heating button has gone and the function moved to iD8.5 and the screens 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️. So not an easy retrofit to my ID7 equipped pre-LCI.

The gear shifter hasn't changed on the M3/M4, or have I missed something?

M4 still has it but M440i and lesser models now have a stub LOL

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
