M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Not an improvement.

They had the freedom of designing a new grille design, and made it a Dodge grille. No thanks.
I agree, the work isn't bad, it's neat and everything, but if you don't like the car as it was designed after a year of work and two years of tuning by professionals from the brand itself, you'd better buy another from another brand

Did BMW conduct any user testing during the development of this car? The consensus has been echoed by almost every journalist. It's not worthy of the CSL badge which like GTO and GT3, should be reserved for the holy grail of cars.

They should have badged it something entirely new and different such as M3 R.

M3R has already been used for an Aussie market special...

From the M registry:
-A retuned version of the 2,990-cc S50 B30 powerplant developed in conjunction with BMW M GmbH and Schnitzer Motorsport GmbH featuring different camshafts, revised intake and exhaust ports, a lightened flywheel and a dual-pickup oil sump (as used in the later S50 B32 motor) . With these changes, the engine was re-rated at 324 hp (DIN) at 7,200 rpm and 258 lb/ft of torque at 4,400 rpm.
-Stronger drivershaft from the E31 850Ci
-Shorter 3.23 final drive
-Reinforced AP Racing clutch
-Top speed limiter removed
-Stiffer BMW Group N springs and shocks
-Larger AP Racing front brake rotors with four-piston calipers, stock rear rotors with AP Racing calipers
-Adjustable front and rear GT spoilers with additional rear rubber lip extensions
-M cross-spoke alloy wheels, sized 7.5x17-inch (front) and 8.5x17-inch (rear)
-Fog lights delete
-Radio delete
-Individually-numbered silver plaque under the parking brake handle

Only 15 made, only 11 of those for the road.

Personally, I think CSL makes as much sense as anything at this point.

To some extent I do agree with you. People remember the E46 M3 CSL quite well ... and expect a similar level of performance increase/weight reduction for the G82 CSL as the E46 M3 CSL achieved over its lesser base M3 brother.
That this was unrealistic from the beginning as the standard G82 is already too refined/optimized compared to the old E46 M3 ... there wasn' much room for getting much more out of it with a reasonable effort (of money/engineering).

And I think, if there hadn't been the 50th anniversary of M ... they might not have given the CSL moniker to it ... on the other hand it is sad, that a car, that still delivers a 7:15 ring time and has changes applied, which are easily in the same ballpark as the changes, which the E46 M3 CSL got ... is deemed not worthy to carry this name. Maybe we are quite spoiled?

Yeah the M4CSL hasn't quite moved the game as the M3CSL did ,but all that doesn't matter as all available units will be sold out if they haven't already and with EVs taking over this will only get more and more desirable as time goes by. 10 years from now nobody will care what some journalist said about this car as it would just be a special and rare occasion seeing this car.

The GT3 and GT3RS are unobtainable new for 99% of people. Used ones are sky high expensive. The M3 CSL is not perfect, but it's the 2nd best option that you can buy without having already bought 4-5 cars from the same manufacturer.

For a track car, the price includes lots of standard kit and is not as expensive to option as a GT3.

Without the carbon buckets, I don't want it (having a second car obviously)

I think they bring so much to it, being the most beautiful of all, incl. lambo, porsche, etc, and how well they fit into the interior thanks to their designs is for me a non brainer

Very interesting build, unusual color but I like it. I believe the leather is silverstone/black with carbon trim.

Yeah the bucket seats are stunning and good value. I would spec it for a car like a GT4 that I might buy, own for 6 month to scratch and itch. But for a daily I find bucket seats uncomfortable after 20-30min and getting in and out is cumbersome.

Amazing, that's a matte color to have, I think the best I've ever seen, it enhances the touring even more

Doing drifting the tires got a little warm I think:

Doing drifting the tires got a little warm I think:

Binned it during a track day in Texas apparently, got it stuck (broken wheel or suspension) on dry grass which then caught fire.

Quite the windscreen tint, he probably crashed because he couldn't see where he was going!

If a new windshield is potoshoped and the grass is replaced by asphalt, it is the drift photo of the year, taking advantage of those flames that no CGI can imitate

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
