M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

An creative way of showcasing your product using your initiative. They put the M3 Touring in a life-sized box they use for the 1/18 scale miniature of the M3/M4.

How’s that for timing. They just announce the 1/18 scale M3 Touring for November in the same style of packaging.

The M3 Touring is BMW halo car that they didn’t have to produce but did anyway.

1. It’s a variant that’s launching late in the product‘s life cycle. The S58 is borderline ubiquitous. You can have it in the M3, M4, X4M and X3M and soon the M2.

2. The X3 M40i is a superb all rounder and family car. It’s BMW‘s best selling ”M” car and you won‘t struggle to find one at half price that the M3 touring is list. Not a like for like comparison but as a family car the X3 has an edge,

3. Women have a substantial say in the purchase of a family car. I cannot envision many women, especially pregnant or with young children, choosing an M3 Touring with bucket seats as the main family car. It will be interesting to see how many will be speced with the option.

However it will be a car worth considering if you want the sportiest and lowest possible car with the big boot. Hopefully there will be an M performance strut brace for the boot.

I look forward to driving the car but it better drive like it’s the second coming of Christ. £83k before options is very expensive for a 3Series. For that money I can buy a used but commendable 2 car duo: M2Comp + M340i Touring.

I expect to see a few outside the lodges, chalets and hotels in the Swiss Alps this December.

How's life with the M3 going @Big Sam ?

Do you have iDrive 7 or 8?

Hi @Mr. Mercedes

Sorry for the delayed response. I barely visit this forum now.

I sold the M3 last month to make way for the Taycan, which should be built in a few weeks. I loved the M3. It's a genuinely superb car, and better in every area than the F80/F82 M3/M4. I'd love to have kept it, but either the R8 or the M3 had to go, as four cars is my limit in terms of parking space at home, and the R8 is going nowhere (it's having its annual service as I type). I managed to sell the M3 for more money than I paid for it, so I didn't lose out financially.

It had iDrive 7. That was planned. I wouldn't have ordered it if it was going to be built with iDrive 8. I think iDrive 8 is truly awful and I absolutely will not buy a BMW until they improve it. I was sad to see the M3 go, but I may end up with an M3 Touring at some point. Who knows? They'd have to improve iDrive 8, though.

How's the Taycan GTS? I was out in the UK last week with my dad, and we visited a few dealers to look at some colours and options before my GTS order locks (not until April next year). My dad loves Neptune Blue, by the way.

My new C-Class should be here in a couple of weeks, also. I'll post photos when its delivered.

One benefit of iDrive 8 bimmers is that they will be able to run native Carplay and Android Auto which also replace the instrument cluster.

Perfect if you hate BMW's recent speedometer and rev counters. It might make up for losing physical hvac controls which might make a comeback in a few years.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
