M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Yours? Color - Dark Matte Grey?
Only the fender/wheel gap at the front axle is ridiculous ... funny thing: With the G80 this gap is smaller! So for me the G82 needs the HAS kit from the performance parts to solve this SUV height and level out this cruel difference between front mega gap and rear gap.

I did closely follow all those discussions in the net about the CSL/Touring laptimes, Micha is discussing in the vid above posted by @WBarnes.
I don't know, what to think! The theory, that Jörg Weidinger is holding back on its CSL lap, while going all-in with the G81 makes no sense to me. Why should he? I think the reason some people feel that, when watching both vids, is because of the different driving style Jörg had to apply! With the xDrive Touring he doesn't need to be so fluent, but just could turn in more brutally and step on the throttle much earlier, while with the CSL he had to take more speed in the corner and was only on the throttle at corner exit, which looks less "brutal".

But still the delta of "only" 15s is imho unexpected ... with approx. 150kg lower weight, 40hp more, better aero and suspension setup and Cup2R over Cup2, where Michelin claims already a gain of 0,5s/km (but maybe this accounts only for Porsche GT cars?)

As said before the CSL time is too slow. Can’t understand how BMW can be happy with this and publish it…? It doesn’t make sense.

The M4 Comp and the M4 CSL look a whole lot better in darker colours, the matt carbon finish and sapphire black make a huge difference than the lighter colours. With the darker colours the huge grill, bumper and bonnet lines and bulges are more noticeable and look menacing.

Useful but doesn't tell the full truth of how the cars feel to drive. Before I drove the RWD M4 G82, I expected it to feel heavy behind the wheel.

Stepping out of the car I look at it with disbelief that it doesn't feel less agile or nimble than my 1,450kg M140i.

The new front axle has done wonders for countering the impact of increased weight. Off course the M4 is not an Alpine A110 but it's playful and precise enough for the weight to be a non-issue.

The last column is telling; kg per PS.....it's getting better all the time in that respect, and that's why the cars keep feeling good despite more weight.

Pretty quick indeed. Would you get the competition with AWD and an automatic or a 6 speed manual and rear wheel drive? I would think the manual would be more engaging and less attractive in cold winter environments. The reviews aren't very encouraging regarding the manual.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
