CLA [Official] 2019 Mercedes Benz CLA

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is a series of luxury subcompact executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 2013. The first generation was a four-door sedan based on the platform of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact cars, marketed as a four-door coupé. In 2015, Mercedes-Benz expanded the CLA family to include a station wagon configuration which it markets as a Shooting Brake. As the V177 A-Class sedan took its place as the budget-conscious sedan, the second generation got longer and wider than the W205 C-Class.
Those are all but irrelevant and totally unnoticeable in real life in being around the CLS. It's only when someone points them out and you think of how the Euro version looks, do you even notice it.

Remember the old days when US-centric bumpers on US BMWs and Mercedes'es extended two feet from the car?

'Sensual Purity' comes to the CLA and it is very good looking indeed. I am looking forward to seeing the shooting brake. With these new proportions it should have a great deal more presence on the road :eusa_clap

I feel like these headlights should have been used on the A class models, while the A’s headlights should have been used on this...

The lights, front and rear, are a very good reminiscence to the first CLA, and, are MUCH better than the boring ones on the CLS.
BTW, the interieur of the complete MFA line, is a nogo for me, but I'm not old enough for them...

It depends if you think touchscreen is all that and a bag of chips, and obviously you do. Touchscreens are only as good as the software that supports them and that you are accessing.

Lexus, for example, moved away from touch screen and implemented the mouse pad. The big debate is how easy it is to access menus etc. and most of the systems out there have become to complex, even with touch screens. The MBUX from what I've studied does seem to streamline and make this better.

Personally, I don't like touch screen because of fingerprints, having to reach while driving and the failure rate is higher and replacement cost ridiculous. The current command is certainly not outdated in terms of how it works and what it does compared with BMW, Porsche, Audi and Lexus. I know folks who love the touch pads because they don't have to take their hands off the wheel. I'm one of those. For example, I had ordered an A-class but just pulled the trigger on another c, because of how disappointed I've been with the CLA and GLA. Granted, the new A-class is an improvement but I'm just not ready for cost cut, front wheel drive, entry level. Even if it has a touch screen.

That said MBUX looks to be an impressive leap, which integrates touch in a way that is more intuitive.

Apologies for the late reply. Informative post! :)

Yes, I suppose personal tastes also matter. This is an issue I did not consider. I automatically assumed that most people would prefer the easier-to-use system, which in my book is touchscreen. Add to that the intuitive MBUX system and you got an infotainment system that at the moment is definitely industry-leading.

Regarding the issue of getting fingerprints on the screen, it's not that bad in my case. I tend to use the mousepad for most of my interaction or the voice system. And I have these awesome touchscreen wipes which remove all fingerprints, skin oil and sweat and leave behind zero streakes. Those wipes also work magic on my iPad and Samsung Tablet. Brilliant stuff. :)

Congrats on your C-Class. If parking spaces and garages weren't so small here I would have gone for one as well. I came from a RWD BMW 118i, but I gotta say the FWD A250 isn't that bad to drive at all (it's got an LSD). It's definitely fun to drive in its own way. A RWD A-Class would have been cool, but it's not the end of the world for me. :)

I think the designers did a great job of slightly reducing the frontal mass and overhang on the newer version.
Those two design flaws ruined it for me on the previous one.

I think the unusually large headlamps contributed to that more than anything. The slimmer headlight look much beer.

CLA production has started. Looks just like the CLS in that last pic. This should do much better this time around. It actually has just enough true Benz DNA to make it worth buying.

It looks really stunning and the colour goes well on the CLA.

We are waiting to see it please. If Mercedes is smart the will do a All Terrain version of this for Subaru/Volvo small wagon crowd that may want to switch.
