A4/S4/RS4 [Official] 2013 Audi RS4 B8

The Audi A4 is a line of luxury compact executive cars produced by Audi. Production: 1994-2025. Predecessor: Audi 80. Successor: Audi A5 (B10).
Whatever Bob, once more you use arbitrary, incidental logic to spin an argument in circles. I will no longer argue this point with you because you will simply waste my time. What I will say is that this is a car forum where specifics pertaining to cars are discussed within the generally accepted concepts relating to automotive things. By arguing this point you detract from a) what the correct and formalised terminology for the item is and b) from the overall quality of discussion on these boards.

Ok fine, people we'll stop calling them pistons from now on. Who needs recognised terminology in the automotive industry? We'll just call them plungers instead because some tenuous logical grasp allows us to.

Your posts continue to be non-contributory. Instead of helping build knowledge on this forum (it's constant arguments like these where you choose to justify yourself rather than the fact) you are deliberately damaging it. I am deadly calm. We've given you another chance on this forum because you just can't seem to stay away and we've done so in spite of your belligerent disregard for forum rules. Don't blow it again.

A good reason why this forum (or any forum) needs some some minimum standard of intelligence and not waste it's members time with idiotic argumentative crap like this -

Calm yourself down Martin, I wasn't trying to contradict you par se, all I was suggesting that the fact it covers the engine it's understandable to call it a cover as he basically said what he seen.

A tyre is a tyre but a wheel trim now that's a cover but if you want to be literal then look up a dictionary for the meaning of cover and it says Put something such as a cloth or lid on top of or in front of (something) in order to protect or conceal it so at no point does it state something can't serve another purpose and if you think about it the M3's air box does potect and conceal the engine so calling it a cover is literally what it is does as well as it's intended purpose. :t-cheers:

There will be no as fat pig as M6 coupe... For sure.

Let's not dirt this thread about the beautiful RS4, with some Beemer talk.

Let's get back on-topic!

Still no numbers on the RS4, neither any new pics :(

You're right!
I've been checking the Audi site the whole day...it remains pretty void of RS4 info....

Audi Drive Select

A ride to suit you

Not all driving situations are the same. The Audi drive select system on the Audi RS 4 changes handling and response at the touch of a button to suit how you want to drive. There are four modes: comfort, dynamic, auto and individual.

For long-distances, Comfort adjusts your set-up to create a more relaxing ride. Dynamic changes the settings for a sportier driving experience, adjusting steering and throttle response. The Auto mode adapts the system depending on the current driving situation while Individual allows you to configure the dynamics of the car to your own preferences.

Sport Differential

Sport differential – all-round driving improvement

The sport differential, for a performance addition to quattro which is standard on RS 4, is designed to make driving obviously smoother, more agile and more satisfying – and not just when you’re pushing the car towards its limits.

Safe, accurate turning

The sports differential enables the quattro system to not only transfer torque between the front and rear axles to counter traction losses, but also between the rear wheels. When cornering, power is redirected to the outside rear wheel, literally pushing the car through the corner. The driver benefits from feeling more in control and the need to make small steering corrections, so familiar in an ordinary car, become a thing of the past.

Why react when you can predict?

Conventional stability management systems detect errors, then correct them. We think that’s a little late. The sport differential’s technology has such a short reaction time - less than 100 milliseconds – that any instability is sensed and dealt with before it has any effect. Almost like it never happened.

You're still in control

The sport differential has been designed to work in tandem with Audi drive select. This enables the possibility to change the characteristics of the engine, transmission, steering, shock absorbers and the active sport differential to suit your mood and the demands of the road.

Modular Longtitude Platform

Achieving the right balance

The RS 4 is built on Audi’s modular longitudinal platform. This innovative chassis enables the engine to mount behind the front axle instead of over it which helps to achieve a more even weight distribution between the front and rear wheels. The result is a car that corners with confidence and handles superbly.

Enchanced Braking System
Ultimate stopping power

The 18-inch high-performance braking system is able to safely harness the formidable power of the Audi RS 4.

8-piston fixed callipers at the front wheels plus single-piston sliding callipers at the rear.
Brake callipers painted in high-gloss black.
Wave brake discs internally ventilated, perforated and with a floating mounting.
Brake disc diameter of 365mm at the front, and 324mm at the rear.
Aluminium tandem brake booster with a ratio specific to the RS 4.
Ceramic brakes are also available as an option, offering outstanding braking performance with virtually no fading – even under continuous load.

V8 FSI engine

At the heart of the Audi RS 4 sits the 4.2 litre V8 FSI engine delivering 450PS.

The combination of high-revving concept and FSI petrol direct injection technology gives the RS 4 the responsiveness required of a performance car.

At a glance:

Max. output of 331Kw (450PS) at 8,250rpm
Max. torque of 430Nm at 4,000 – 6,000rpm
Uniform power build-up and spontaneous response over the full rev range
Impressive engine acoustics
The engine is coupled with a 7-speed S tronic gearbox. This innovative dual-clutch transmission enables gearshifts to be executed in a few hundredths of a second with virtually no interruption in power flow.

FSI: Petrol Direct injection

The Audi RS 4 petrol engine features FSI direct injection – a unique technology originally developed for the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race.

With FSI technology, fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber in precisely measured quantities. The amount of fuel that is dispensed varies according to throttle position. This precise method reduces the amount of fuel 'lost' in the combustion process, greatly improving economy and reducing CO2 emissions. FSI also creates greater torque and increased power.

I wonder if they finally figured out the carbon build up issues that the Audi V8 FSI suffers from - well, most VAG FSI engines suffers from it - at least in US, but it is particularly chronic with the V8.

^ As far as I am aware this was sorted with the introduction of the RS5. Best ask an RS5 owner if this is correct.

Yeah, the front end is starting to grow more on me too now. It's understated, moreso than the previous version.

Here is my try to change the color to black:

Nice, now please try to change the chrome mesh in the grille to black!

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
